The man accused of staging a hate crime to garner support for Yemi Mobolade during his 2023 mayoral campaign shared shocking testimony during a federal trial on Thursday, claiming Mobolade not only knew of the plan but that a state representative was also in on it.
Derrick Bernard and his partner Ashley Blackcloud have been on trial this week at the federal courthouse in downtown Denver. They are accused of burning a wooden cross in front of a Yemi Mobolade campaign sign, defaced with the N-word slur, in order to gain sympathy for the man trying to become the first-elected Black mayor of Colorado Springs.
The trial has centered around whether or not the couple used the internet and interstate commerce to maliciously share misinformation about the staged hate crime.
On Thursday, federal prosecutors called their 13th and final witness to the stand, Special Agent Ethan Doherty from the FBI, who was the lead of the federal investigation.
Doherty answered exhaustive questions on the stand by the United States and through cross-examination, discussing details from text messages and Facebook and Instagram messages sent between Bernard and Blackcloud.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Colorado Springs is close behind Denver in becoming a craphole.

Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
Wow. A close friend of mine is in the process of moving there.
People move/invade here (legally or not) and import their crime/corruption with them. Just doing the crimes Americans can do.
Started with Barry Soetero and grows. Never expected to hear elected officials whose name we can’t pronounce.
I remember this and remember thinking that his staffers probably set the whole thing up on his orders. He knew he was in a close race and needed to shout racism.
It was pretty cool 60 years ago.
Stay away from the Citadel mall.
I would not want to visit again. And I would not date a woman named Ashley Blackcloud.
“Colorado Springs is close behind Denver in becoming a craphole.”
I always thought that Colorado Springs was a mostly conservative city.
It’s not?
Blame white liberals. Colorado Springs is less than 6% AA.
If it involves a democrat, then you KNOW it isn’t even slightly honest.
Ping
No longer.
Sad to see this happen to such a beautiful, beautiful city.
I have family there - you can see Pike’s Peak from their home. They’ve complained about explosive growth, crime and “changing demographics” recently and warned about staying out of certain areas of town.
Saw this happen in once-conservative California over the past 60 years and the changes were not for the better, especially after the lefties took hold of the state house.

Wake up America, yemi types are what you get when you elect candidates from recent dictatorial countries; its ingrained into their culture to be controlled by dictators. All of African countries are dictatorial as well as Latino Countries.
Racism has been the “go to” card for Democrats at election time for many years and in many ways!! And it has proven successful.

50 years ago, yes ... same as colorado as a whole, but the influx of califorinia locusts have destroyed our state ...
