The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is making record-breaking progress in processing a backlog of veteran disability claims that mounted under former President Joe Biden, the agency told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The VA brought unresolved claims down from 264,717 to 198,378 — or by approximately 25% — since President Donald Trump returned to office, the VA told the DCNF. Trump’s VA has also hit the highest daily and monthly processing rates in the agency’s history while reversing a 24% increase in the backlog that occurred under Biden, the VA said in a statement.

The last time the VA’s backlogged claims were under 200,000 was in March 2023, the department told the DCNF. A disability claim must be left unresolved for more than 125 days to be considered backlogged.
The VA set a monthly new record in April by processing 256,178 claims and set a daily record with more than 15,000 on Tuesday, the agency told the DCNF.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
That, ladies and gentleman, is DEI!
The VA will just deny the disability applications, as they’ve done under Trump, Biden, Obama, Bush, etc.
Here’s another story you probably won’t hear about on NPR, ABC, CNN, CBS, NBC, or MSNBC.
My priorities as a voting-veteran-taxpayer are:
Secure the Border
Help our Vets in EVERY way possible
Reduce the Deficit
I continue to remain hopeful with President Trump at the helm. MAGA!
(Yeah, not 100% on board with the. ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ - but who is?)
I can only assume that some probably should be denied, while others be granted. But obviously I cannot speak to individual cases.
What percentage of claims are legit claims?
Good question. I know many military scofflaws, my brother included.
Legit claims to be approved or fake claims to be denied, it doesn’t matter which, they should be processed at a reasonable rate. I’m glad to read that the VA, under Doug Collins, is clearing the backlog.
“The VA will just deny the disability applications, as they’ve done under Trump, Biden, Obama, Bush, etc.”
That is what I was thinking too. Pretty easy to get them processed fast when the answer is universal...
No, the reason that the Biden admin had to do so much hiring is that they were covering up the unemployment numbers by hiring people into government featherbedding jobs when all their other benefits ran out.

I have never been denied for a VA disability claim. I am currently 100% disabled for two Agent Orange cancers (prostate and bladder). My brother is currently 100% for another Agent Orange cancer (Multiple Myeloma). The VA has always been there for us.

I’m glad for you and your brother, but a trip to your local VFW or American Legion will introduce you to many vets who’ve had the opposite experience.

And there’s the problem. Determining the legitimacy of a medical claim requires record reviews of all military service, deployments, duties, exposures, etc., including medical records. It takes months or years for the DOD to access that information. That takes time.
In the meantime, many injured vets are left in poverty because we can’t have ANYONE get inaccurate benefits/s.

Well, there’s THAT as well!
I get sick to my stomach when I hear other vets bragging about how they got bumped up to 100% disability, when they work out regularly, hold down jobs and don’t seem to suffer any decrease in life activities. Including my VA doc.

I have two friends on 100%. Both are in their 70’s and very active. Boating, golf, motorcycles ...
It sounds like they are encouraged and it is way too easy to obtain.
I would like to see the VA disability racket DOGE’d.
If anybody cares, the VA has multi-tierd levels of coverage for vets.
If you were in a combat zone .. you have dental benefits.
If you were stateside or a safe-area vet, you do not have dental benefits.
They will give you a 75K surgery but skimp on a few hundred buck dental benefit.
