President Trump signs Take It Down Act

President Donald Trump signed into law the Take it Down Act, increasing consequences on people who post revenge porn and requiring social media websites to take it down within 48 hours.

The law also treats artificial intelligence generated revenge porn the same as real photos under the law.

First Lady Melania Trump urged Congress to pass the law, part of her “Be Best” initiative.

The U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate passed the Take it Down Act, nearly unanimously.

“Thank you all for coming together to prioritize people over politics,” First Lady Melania Trump said.

President Trump cheered the bipartisan cooperation that led to the passage of the Take it Down Act, noting only two representatives voted against the legislation.

“We will not tolerate online sexual exploitation,” President Trump said.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas.) said the story of a Texas teenager inspired him to sponsor the Take it Down Act. Elliston Berry said she was a freshman in high school, when someone created a pornographic photo of her using AI.

“It was really scary to even go to school,” Berry said.

Sen. Cruz said the social media company didn’t take the photo off the app until his office got involved.

I would say spending. But, as usual, it looks like the worthless RINO’s will be the death of us. Have to appreciate a little win, however.

“Increasing consequences…” Let’s hope its severe enough to be an effective deterrent. If someone did that to my daughter I’d want substantial jail time and substantial fines for the perpetrator at a minimum. It’s a very insidious and evil thing to do a person. The punishment must fit the crime.

Yeah, if some 20 year old hottie takes video of this 73 year old making whoopee with her, I’m relieved I can demand it be taken off social media within 48 hours. What a relief that is to me.

Great. Another well-meaning, vague, ambiguous federal law to be selectively enforced when the need to target someone arises.

In Harvey Silverglate's "Three Felonies A Day: How the Feds Target the Innocent," we learn that "The average professional in this country wakes up in the morning, goes to work, comes home, eats dinner, and then goes to sleep, unaware that he or she has likely committed several federal crimes that day."

https://www.amazon.com/Three-Felonies-Day-Target-Innocent/dp/1594035229

Just last week President Trump said the Code of Federal Regulations "contains over 48,000 sections, stretching over 175,000 pages — far more than any citizen can possibly read, let alone fully understand."

Which is why Trump is not a Conservative. However, he's what we needed at this time. Kind of like Andrew Jackson.

Rand Paul, he's ideologically sound.

I am not criticizing Trump. I am criticizing the weaponized “justice” system. It’s not his fault there are already too many laws.

Trump should have vetoed it. Let the states enforce the law instead.

States will not evenly enforce such a law. Do you really want one State where every predator can operate not prosecuting?

He's accomplishing far more than anyone could have imagined.

I am going to give him a pass for not being perfect.

You go ahead and demand perfection and see where that gets ya.

You dont get it.

With you its all about your labels you’ve had for the last 40 years. Reality means nothing.

Like I've said earlier in this thread, Trump is more like Andrew Jackson.

FWIW, I think Andrew Jackson was a good president.
