I hope Trump does not accept that plane. I know he wants to reward himself after last week’s string of successful partnerships with Middle Eastern Royals, and yes, that was quite impressive, but finding some other method to enjoy your success would be the wisest choice. Let Qatar give that White Elephant to somebody else, with less to lose in the court of public opinion.

How about the DoD accepts the plane and it does NOT revert to the Trump library after his tenure. Seems really dumb for a library to accept a plane in this manner from the world’s biggest sponsor of terrorism.

Also, there is no way that plane can be refurbished to make it into an AF1 in the time left in Trump 47. The $100 million L3Harris contract bandied about is utterly ridiculous. It take $1 billion and at least three years to get it ready. It would be ready about the time the two AF1 on order at Boeing will finally be ready.

IMO, this just doesn’t pass the smell test.

We have directly insulted the Danish enough already. They are now wired up to enthusiastically reject anything we collectively offer them. If we leave them alone for the next year or two, perhaps the discussion can be renewed, but by a different kind of diplomacy than what was done earlier this year..
I don’t know why Trump chose that kind of manner to broach the topic with them and the Prime Ministers of Greenland, but he did. He no doubt, has his reasons.

I haven’t been following the plane story closely but I have a hard time believing Trump really wants it. More likely he wants to avoid offending the Qataris by refusing it and risk spoiling the mood.

It’s not about that. He’s building alliances and refusing this gift to our country would be counterproductive especially with countries in that neck of the woods. Everything regarding Trump is unfairly overly scrutinized. There is nothing wrong with our country being gifted a plane, nothing.
