WARSAW, May 19 (Reuters) - Polish customs seized 5 metric tons of tires for civilian Boeing aircraft which were due to transit through Belarus and Russia, the country's National Revenue Administration said on Monday, adding such goods are covered by European Union sanctions.

Western sanctions against Russia have been toughened repeatedly since its full-scale invasion on Ukraine in 2022, without ending the war.

"Officers... discovered during the inspection of a truck in Koroszczyn that the driver was transporting tires used in Boeing civil planes instead of the declared car and bus tires," the National Revenue Administration said.

"The sender of the goods was a company from Spain, and the recipient was from Azerbaijan. Criminal fiscal proceedings were initiated in connection with customs fraud. The sanctioned goods were detained."

I can remember a black fell whose wife wouldn’t give him a ride to work when it was raining. On his way out he unplugged the tv cord and took it with him.

“since its FULL-SCALE INVASION”

Sounds like the media is back to using its Dog Whistle. In any case, Medvedev actually did promise a “full-scale war” if Ukraine doesn’t come to its senses in the current negotiations.

So the Western Media may finally get their “Full Scale...” after all, and I doubt they’ll like what they see.

Russia is still getting Boeing parts through China, Turkey, UAE and Central Asian countries.

Poland isn't endangering anything. Whatever blockheaded Russian responsible for clearing the plane to fly with unsafe tires would be the one endangering it.

Poland has the sovereign right to permit or prohibit the transfer of particular goods across its territory. Exercising that right is not justification for war, except possibly in the mind of a complete Russian sycophant.

When the war started, there were lots of commentators saying how Russian commercial aviation was going to be hit hard. Lots of Russian commercial jets were leased from E.U. nations. When the E.U. imposed sanctions, they demanded the planes be returned and seized leased Russian jets still in the E.U.

In retaliation Russia seized E.U.-leased planes still in Russia and re-registered them a Russian planes. These planes cannot and will not receive software updates, genuine replacement parts and likely will never be able to land outside of Russia or Russia-friendly nations.

After this, no one is likely to want to lease any airplane to a Russian airline. I am aware that Russia has an aircraft industry, and Russians are quite capable fabricating parts (B-29>Tu4!) but the premise of the commentators was that Russian civil aviation will suffer greatly.

Sounds like Poland is playing wack-a-mole.

Hmmm. Hard to say. Maybe Russia should nuke Warsaw from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Poland doesn't like Russia very much even before the Ukraine business.

Will we get to finally see the meat wave attacks of Russian just foolishly running into battle also...

I know they were pushing that narrative hard for so long and never true...

Old quarrels have been at the roots of a lot of European wars, like the wars in Yugoslavia a few years back for example.

Yes. That's my point.
Those that left by choice , or were forced and came to the U.S. or many other places no longer have to deal with that.
Its good to be an American. :)

When Russia seizes foreign assets, people complain. When other countries seize Russian assets, people cheer...

You be the judge...
