Republican deficit hawks allowed President Trump’s bill of legislative priorities to advance out of the House Budget Committee in an unusual late-night vote on Sunday, marking a key hurdle cleared for House GOP leaders and a sign of progress for warring Republican factions
After gaveling in after 10 p.m. on Sunday, the committee voted 17-16-4 to advance the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” which would extend Trump’s tax cuts and boost his border funding priorities while reforming Medicaid and food assistance programs.
The vote comes after four hardline conservatives on the committee tanked a vote on the legislation Friday, saying the cost-cutting measures in the bill did not go far enough.
Those four conservatives – Reps. Ralph Norman (S.C.), Chip Roy (Texas), Andrew Clyde (Ga.), and Josh Brecheen (Okla.) — voted present on Sunday to allow the bill to go forward.
“In an effort to move this bill forward, and I’m excited about the changes we’ve made, I vote present,” said Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), one of the four holdouts who had tanked the vote on Friday.

Git ‘er done!
Now the Fed has to play ball and cut rates.
All’s well that ends well.
They did nothing for social security. Still going to be taxed. A-holes.
Finally. Like a fish out of water too long, it could have died a painful death.
This appears to be good news.
They did nothing for social security. Still going to be taxed. A-holes.

Powell is being stubborn about cutting rates because he doesn’t want Trump to get a “win”.
The Fed cut by 50bps in September, just before the election to try to boost the Democrats but now as inflation has dropped he refuses to do so. Eight months ago, under Bidenomics, all the “experts” were forecasting four rate cuts this year, now they’ve scaled that back to one or two.
Americans get to enjoy a giant crap sandwich.
I’m hoping the SS gets done in stand alone bill. If it doesn’t get done it is going to cost em.
Notice that the Hill article says very little about the contents of the Bill itself other than the SALT tax.
Porkulus-lite?
“Promises made, promises broken”
I can hear it now in the Donk midterm ads.
LOL. I mean just damn.
Big Beautiful Deficits.
Americans get to enjoy a giant crap sandwich.
That’s what I’m afraid of finding out. A big hoopla about there being tax cuts for the working class only to find out there is nothing but lots of spending and hidden tax hikes all throughout the bill.
Still nothing on the HPA or Short Act? I did see the big government Repugs voted for National Reciprocity........for cops and ex cops.

The GOP can pass very few bills even when holding both the Senate and the House. It seems almost as if by design that 3 or 4 in each Chambers work tirelessly to sabotage a conservative agenda.
By this time after Biden was installed, the Democrats had passed dozens of bills for Biden’s autopen.
Four present votes. That enabled 17-16.
Those votes are maybe No on the floor, and there are other GOP folks NOT on the committee who may also be a NO. Certainly Massie.
No. It doesn’t matter who they are and grandstanding or if they voted for CRs in the past. The only thing that matters is mathematics. There are two vacant seats in the House, both Dems who died. One of those seats will be filled in Sept (special elections Sept and late Nov) and that will be prior to the actual 2026 budget.
This bill may still not get out of the House. Only 4 votes stops it, and there were already 4 just in the committee.
When politicians are smiling, you can feel assured that a sore rectum is in your future. 🧑🔬
