Verizon terminates all DEI policies effective immediately
The Post Millennial ^ | 5/16/25 | Katie Daviscourt

Verizon announced the termination of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in a Thursday letter sent to FCC Chairman Brandon Carr. The telecommunications company said it recognized that some of its DEI policies were "discriminatory" and vowed to terminate all company roles focused on DEI effective immediately. This comes after the Trump administration launched a probe into the company over such policies in February.

Verizon cited Supreme Court rulings, President Donald Trump's executive orders, and federal mandates for its decision to eliminate DEI from the company. The company will no longer maintain workforce diversity goals and said it would remove references to DEI from employee training and make other changes to hiring, career development, supplier diversity, and corporate sponsorships, according to the letter.

"Delivering for customers requires attracting the best talent from across the country. We are committed to creating a culture that leverages and values each person's unique strengths and talents. These values have been fundamental to our Verizon culture since our founding 25 years ago. However, we recognize that the regulatory and policy landscape surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion ('DEI') has changed. The Supreme Court, the President's Executive Orders, and federal mandates require changes in the way companies approach DEI issues moving forward," wrote Verizon chief legal officer Vandana Venkatesh in the letter.

I bet a lot of companies that were forced by activists and bullies to create departments and implement DEI policies are going to take advantage of the new official Trump policy to dump some of those useless hires. It will both save money and reduce aggravation!

termination of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies

Now they're calling it community, wellness, and peace policies ... or something equally as lame.

I'm having a hard time believing they're really getting rid of this toxic crap.

Means nothing unless they’re terminating anyone who had a role in DEI. DEI is like a cancer, unless you get rid of all of it, it will spread and come back.

It is time for them to make a public apology to all those who they have discriminated against with their DEI policies...and a reparations check would be good as well.

activists and bullies

Absolutely. Activists and bullies in their own HR and legal departments and on their board and in the C suites.

Not only that, but will make them more efficient. Getting rid of dead wood is good.

Charter Communications just bought Atlanta’s Cox Communications. Cox has been the biggest DEI voice in GA. Cox has been the biggest source of misinformation relevant to DEI ... in GA.

It will be interesting what changes, if any occur with the “merger of unequals”.

I’m hearing stories of companies doing just that - renaming the DEI function something else. Hire the right talent period.

Georgia doesn’t have many choices when it comes to communication services. Charter, from what I understand, has a pitiful service reputation. Verizon provides the best all around service but I swear their basic cost goes up every month.

Maybe that’s why they have the best all around service.

I bet a lot of companies are simply renaming this DEI shit and not firing a single wig-whomper. It will be more difficult for the 3rd-party indoctrination centers but that's about it. Most companies are devising a strategy to take DEI entirely in-house and are glad to save money thanks to TrumpII without really changing a goddamn thing.

Use the IRS. Crush the DEI infrastructure.

Create US government metrics to demonstrate companies that won't abandon DEI, that renamed DEI -- show the cost to consumers, show the drag on the stock price, and prosecute, prosecute, prosecute. Scorched earth.
