Carrier announced on Tuesday that it plans to invest $1 billion in U.S. manufacturing over the next five years, which is expected to create about 4,000 jobs.
Carrier, described as a “global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions,” announced the additional investment in a press release, which includes an expansion of “manufacturing, innovation and workforce expansion.”
“The investment is expected to create 4,000 highly skilled jobs in R&D, manufacturing and field service,” the press release revealed.
David Gitlin, Chairman and CEO of Carrier, said in a statement the investment “marks the next chapter in our commitment to U.S. manufacturing.”
“We are building for the future by creating high-quality, skilled trade careers and empowering American workers to lead the next generation of manufacturing,” he said.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
What does Carrier manufacturer?
heat and air
Thank you.
Welcome
that’s cool
They make their HVAC units in Collierville, TN (one of the places Memphians escaped to).
Mrs. Submareener and I were in Syracuse, NY when NAFTA was signed and Carrier closed their plant and moved to Mexico. A very sad day.
That’s nice, but where will they find the workers?
HVAC systems.
During the warm half of the year, when my hybrid water heater runs I direct its cold air byproduct into my central HVAC's input (a new receiver built into the floor next to my water heater). Since the water heater's built-in heat pump draws heat from the air it pulls in, directs that heat into the water tank, it therefore blows cool air. With that free cold air being drawn in by my variable speed heat pump (with variable speed air handler), the end result is that my variable speed heat pump stays in low power mode a few extra hours during the day.
But I don't know anyone else who thought to do that. And during the cool half of the year (when I don't want extra cool air in the house), I flip a wye duct lever and direct the water heater's cold air byproduct into the attic, away from the living quarters.
If you think about it, the opposite could be true. During the warm half of the year, the outside heat pump produces warm air that it blows away into the surrounding air. That heat byproduct could be used to heat the water tank. Which would be easy breezy if it was all one unit.
The article you posted doesn’t like deportations. Too bad.
If you pay people reasonable wages, there is no labor shortage in the U.S.
I remember when the head of conglomerate United Technologies stated that he wanted to offshore everything, it went over well with stock holders, but not with the people working at the Pratt and Whitney plant where I was contracting. I imagine he is gone now. Some of his work will be undone.
I worked at the Carrier Dome in 84-85 in my Junior/Senior year at SUNY ESF/SU. In events production. Setting up for football, basketball, concerts, any Dome event.
I remember driving past the huge Carrier plant in Syracuse back in the day, when I used to go there on business.
The Dinosaur Barbecue is still one of my all-time favorite restaurants.
I doubt Carrier would do this if Cliff’s was going to get their monopoly position in steel making. Look for Nippon to get approval to buy and invest in Bethlehem Steel.
Before the flaming starts, the hypocrites at Cliffs want protection from imported steel so they can charge monopoly power prices while at the same time demanding to e exempted from tariffs on unfinished steel slabs, iron ore, coke.
Funny fact. Syracuse plays in the Carrier dome. Carrier dome has no heating and air. 😎
“…there is no labor shortage in the U.S.…”
As I recall they’ve been saying for the past few years that some huge number of working age people have simply dropped out of the workforce.
I have their furnace. As they put in my new furnace, they noticed the piping from my hot water heater was going bad, so they replaced it. And then they went outside and noticed I didn’t have a covering for my chimney, and they replaced that all for free.
Maybe because I paid cash.
