Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) said Tuesday on CNN’s “News Central” that President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees could face holds until Attorney General Pam Bondi provides “answers” to Congress on the $400 million jet from Qatar.
Shaheen said, “With respect to Qatar and the plane, I think there are serious constitutional questions about this, but there are also questions about national security. Sadly, the president doesn’t seem to be too concerned about national security. He’s been willing to allow his secretary of defense to engage in classified discussions over unclassified channels. He has, again, looking at accepting this plane without thinking about what the implications would be. We don’t know what kind of bugs might be put in that aircraft.”
Host Kate Bolduan asked, “Is there something that Congress can do about this?”

I’ll bet it’s affecting Boeing more than politics.
Lots of trump supporters trying to justify this gift
I , as a trump supporter am not happy with this decision by trump
this gift is really not appropriate for the president of the united state to accept
No matter if he were Democrat or republican
USA is not to be bought with gifts
Trump has just signed an executive order making the official color of the sky blue.
In 1,2,3, top Democrats file a lawsuit, threaten to hold up any further nominations and are thinking of drawing up articles of impeachment.
There, I beat the Babylon Bee to it.
I agree about the national security concerns. Team Trump will have to do multiple sweeps to check for bugs and other forms of surveillance.
The constitutional questions are never articulated. It’s only to muddy the waters for the low information crowd. If the dems have questions, ask them. I doubt any of them are smart enough to ask a legitimate question.
They will do anything they can to harm America right now...any excuse will do.
The justification is in the law. He did not solicit it. He did not give anything in return. It is for official Presidential use and he has stated it will be turned over to his Presidential library when his term is over.
People get a hold of yourselves. President Trump is not accepting anything personally. There are laws on the book that control what the President can and can not accept.
The law on a U.S. President receiving gifts depends on the source. If it’s from a foreign government or official, the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause (Article I, Section 9) says they can’t accept gifts without Congress’s consent. The Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act of 1966 sets a limit—currently $480 as of 2025. Anything over that is considered a gift to the U.S. government, not the President personally, and gets logged by the State Department. If the President wants to keep it, they have to buy it at fair market value; otherwise, it goes to the National Archives or a presidential library.
For domestic gifts, like from U.S. citizens, the President is generally free to accept them unless the giver is a “prohibited source”—someone seeking action, doing business with, or regulated by the government. Ethics laws, like the Ethics Reform Act of 1989, say they can’t solicit gifts from those sources, and anything over $350 (as of recent reports) must be disclosed in annual financial reports. If they keep valuable domestic gifts, they might owe taxes on the appraised value. The White House Gift Unit handles most gifts, and some—like food or consumables—get destroyed by the Secret Service for safety.

The degree of concern is alarming in and of itself. The delays and cost overruns are the considerations here, this air transport is available NOW, set up the way the current Commander in Chief has chosen to adopt.
Apparently there were a lot of “add-ins” placed on the Boeing Air Force One that had been contracted for, but not delivered up to now, to satisfy additional requirements demanded by Team Biden, which may or may not have been beneficial enhancements. But the President of the United States needs SOMETHING to get around in, and the current operational Air Force One is getting more obsolete by the day.
Time to investigate Jeanne Shaheen
The airplane should be used strictly for deportation flights. A little refitting and it could carry several hundred illegal aliens on each flight.
Which president?
Is it against any law?
Have you ever heard of President Biden and his family?
What happened to the Air Force One that Trump had built in his first term? Now he’s riding an old one? I am perplexed!
The current air force one is suitable for the travel needs of the current president. What this has done is light the fire under Boeing to figure out how to deliver the first of 2 747s sometime in the next 3 years.
Agreed. And retiring it to the Trump mausoleum (library) is even worse.
The plane’s going to the DOD, which has nothing to do with Trump’s nominees.
It's going to the Department of Defense, not personally to Trump.
put away the bong! The plane is NOT A GIFT TO DONALD J TRUMP! It is a gift to government of United States. The president only gets to use it while in office. The current AF-1 plane he is using is 40 years old. For his safety this newer plane is much better. Only reason he is accepting the gift on behalf of government because Boeing is UNABLE TO DELIVER Replacement plane for years to come.
I can’t believe how many people are uninformed.
