A total of 10 bodies have been found in rivers in the Portland, Oregon area since mid-April, two of which were found in May alone. The 10th body was found by authorities on Saturday on the Willamette River and was recovered at Portland's Cathedral Park, per KPTV. The identity of the person or the cause of death has yet to be released.
Earlier in May, after the discovery of the eighth body, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said in a press releasethat the number of bodies recovered in a short time frame is "not unusual, though it is tragic." MSCO said that in April and May 2024, six bodies were recovered.
Authorities said that the majority of the bodies recovered as of that point died as a result of "drowning caused by suicide." The press release from MCSO continued, "Additionally, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office has no reason to believe there is any suspicious activity nor do we believe there is any connection between the bodies."
The office listed multiple contributing factors to the number of bodies recovered this time of year, including water currents, increased activity along the river as the weather gets nicer, and the decomposition of bodies and rising water temperatures.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
And the Sheriff says this number of bodies is not unusual at all. Dang, I'm glad I don't live in Portland!
Bodies were also found on April 13, 15, 18, 24, and 30 and May 3 and 4. May 3 saw three bodies recovered from the Willamette and Columbia rivers, per KATU.
WHAT!!!???
“Authorities said that the majority of the bodies recovered as of that point died as a result of “drowning caused by suicide.”
I you had to live in Portland I find it perfectly understandable. Place is full of nutcases.
Well, they either have a lot of people committing suicide in Portland, or there’s a serial killer loose.
Even though he operated out of the Seattle area, maybe this is another Green River Killer, he disposed of his bodies along the rivers near Seattle
Portlandia has always had near the largest number of suicides of any metro area in the country. Nothing new about it.
So authorities won’t say if they male or female or both.
In Seattle last year, the decomposed bodies of two persons who lived in tent encampments were discovered by charity workers.
The river front park in Portland is an open air drug den. The only thing cops do is give narcam to junkies. It is no wonder hopeless drug addicts would jump off the Burnside bridge.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxx
10 suicides by drowning so far this year is nothing unusual??
Portland coroner would make fahmy malak proud
Did they have their feet?
Suicides? They were defeeted by life...
majority “drowning caused by suicide.”
??
Did they all have notes in their pockets?
Good reference.
Green River killer has moved.
The suicide rate in the Pacific Northwest has been higher than the national average since the 1980s if not earlier. It used to be attributed to depression brought on by the constant rainy weather.
You’d think it would be lower given that they don’t have the oppressive nearly year round heat of the Lower Midwest and Southeast, but then, in Oregon and Washington, life sucks when you order tea expecting sweet ice tea and they give you hot unsweetened tea instead. That could make anyone contemplate suicide.
Even Multinomah falls, named ages ago, has a suicide story associated with it, as I recall.
Supposedly you can see the figure of a maiden in it, because, if I remember right, (as the legend goes), an Indisn maiden jumped from the top of the falls when she lost the love of her life or when her father denied their union. Something tragic like that, anyway.
