Passengers fume at 'rude and dismissive' TSA agents for refusing to accept 'valid' REAL ID
The Mirror US ^ | May 10, 2025 | Reanna Smith

Angry passengers have been left frustrated by the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) enforcement of REAL ID, as "rude and dismissive" agents have been accused of refusing to accept valid forms.

As of May 7, state-issued driver’s licenses and IDs that are not REAL ID compliant are no longer accepted as valid forms of identification at airports, and passengers could be prevented from boarding their flights if they do not have an acceptable form of ID......

TSA workers even responded to the poster, claiming that some of their colleagues were struggling to get a grasp of the new rules. "Some of my TSA coworkers are morons," one wrote.

They added: "One didn’t accept a passport because they told a passenger it was 'too late' after first presenting a non REALID license. He also turned away military ID’s. Reported him to supervisor and he now has to retake the training. Unfortunately he’s not a rarity. Sorry for the inconvenience.".....

According to the TSA's website as of May 10, the current forms of valid ID for traveling on domestic flights in the US include:

REAL ID-compliant driver's licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent)

State-issued Enhanced Driver's License (EDL) or Enhanced ID (EID)

U.S. passport

U.S. passport card

DHS trusted traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)

U.S. Department of Defense ID, including IDs issued to dependents

Permanent resident card

Border crossing card

An acceptable photo ID issued by a federally recognized Tribal Nation/Indian Tribe, including Enhanced Tribal Cards (ETCs)

HSPD-12 PIV card

Foreign government-issued passport

Canadian provincial driver's license or Indian and Northern Affairs Canada card

Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766)

U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential

Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)

He also turned away military ID’s.

I showed my retired military ID at the airport last month and the TSA agent said the machine did not like the "INDEF" expiration.

I got a better idea - shut down TSA completely.

I consider the attempt by those who chose to try to get by the ID requirement for flying is trivial compared to what is going to happen when real ID is required for voting.

A certain ethnicity absolutely relishes having the authority to be able to tell Whitey what they can and can not do....especially the females...never more prevalent than during covid.

The real ID is being used by some states as a replacement for the Drivers License which some states have allowed to be issued to terrorists and invaders. If you fall for the scam next up the Real Real ID. after they start issuing Real ID to terrorists and invaders. Then the Real Real Really real ID. States should be forced to comply with universal rules for drivers licenses. or get a passport soon to be issued again to terrorists and invaders.

Right. Moslems would soon be blowing up an airliner a week. How quickly you forget.

In related news, due to TSA incompetence a man was able to bring a loaded gun onto a plane in Chicago. This happened last month.

Just the ones that did not get hired as air traffic controllers. Or elected to Congress in a gerrymandered district.

“Since the REAL ID Act of 2005 was passed, Defense Department IDs holders have been told their IDs are compliant and acceptable in lieu of a REAL ID and many have not bothered to get a REAL ID compatible state identification card.

They may need to or begin traveling with a passport, because given the ongoing issues, TSA is considering dropping DoD IDs from their list of accepted identification before the REAL ID requirement goes into effect, according to a source with knowledge of ongoing discussions between TSA and the Defense Department.

The Defense Department did not respond to a request for comment on the proposal, and Langston said he would not “confirm or deny discussions that are pre-decisional in nature.”

But the proposal does not sit well among some former service members who spent decades serving their country and take pride in carrying a military ID.

“You can get on any military base in the country, but you can’t get on an airplane with a military ID card? I don’t agree with that at all,” said a military retiree based in Washington state who requested that his name not be used to protect how he learned of the proposal...

The Defense Department updated the new IDs, known as USID, for active-duty family members, military retirees and their dependents, reservists and Medal of Honor recipients in 2020, the first upgrade to the cards since 1993.

The USID cards look similar to Common Access Cards, which are issued to active-duty personnel, but they don’t have a built-in chip. They were created to have durable lamination, full-color photos and enhanced security features to make them less able to counterfeit or misuse.”

https://www.moaa.org/content/publications-and-media/news-articles/2024-news-articles/health-care-and-earned-benefits/indefinite-dod-ids-may-be-dropped-as-acceptable-air-travel-identification/

When I need to prove citizenship to VOTE, I’ll be OK with my retired military ID being unacceptable to fly. Until then...well, there is a reason I avoid flying anymore!

I was just telling my kids (in their 30’s) about all of the hijackings and PLO terrorist (redundant) attacks on airliners in the 70’s and 80’s. This went along with the red brigade shooting up airports in Europe.

They had no idea.

Will TSA accept a U.S. passport that has been expired less than a year? It’s still me.

I doubt any of my three kids (also all in mid 30s) would know anything about all that history, either. There were so many hijackings and bombings. It seemed like you couldn’t go a week without another terror attack.
