KYIV, Ukraine (AP) – Ukraine and its allies are ready for a “full, unconditional ceasefire” with Russia for at least 30 days starting on Monday, Ukrainian FM Andrii Sybiha said Saturday.
His remarks came as the leaders of four major European countries visited Kyiv, amid a push for Moscow to agree to a truce and launch peace talks on ending the nearly three-year war. They followed what Sybiha said was a “constructive” phone call between them, U.S. President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Saturday also marked the last day of a unilateral three-day ceasefire declared by Russia that Ukraine says the Kremlin’s forces have repeatedly violated.

“Where do they come up with 30 days? 🤔 What does that accomplish”
Makes it far easier for the Neocons to get weapons and very possibly troops positioned to take the attack to Russia.
And it could work, if Russia didn’t have friends, particularly China (thanks Biden for goading China over Taiwan), and also India. So it’s DOA and Russia will will simply shrug-off the 18th round of ‘sanctions’ as they did the other 17 rounds.
30 days would give enough time for French, British and others to rush in to set up a separation of forces. Russia is not about to let them police a ceasefire, it would greatly be to their disadvantage.
What the EU wants is to stop long enough for them to rush in fresh supplies and give the Ukrainians time to build a new defence line. The Germans tried the same ‘nice doggie’ ploy, and look where it got the Russians.
European allies?
WTF
Is that the coalition of the (un)willing?
Vance called this an obsession just a few days ago.
It would appear to be consistent with the habit of fighting the war in the media. Everything is about looking good and noble.
And maybe especially after the PR coup just achieved in Moscow with all those countries attending.
As for what 30 days of ceasefire achieves, it would trigger the Europeans who say they can deploy peacekeepers after there is peace in Ukraine. Obviously Russia has nothing to gain from being put in a position of killing those troops on arrival and putting stress on Article 5. So . . . it likely this will not happen.
It allows Ukraine to rearm. Russia won’t play that game.
Note "after a peace deal"
What peace deal?
Cart before horse.
There ain't no peace deal.
Not sure anyone can credibly claim there are real prospects for a peace deal.
Putin has a dual strategy.
One for the battleground and one for the peace table.
He has made his strategy for the peace table clear and simple.
No deal while Zelensky is in charge.
His strategy on the battlefield is just as simple, keep fighting as long as there is will in the West to keep supporting Zelensky.
It is now Trump's call.
He can keep playing a losing hand or he can cut Uncle Sam's losses and leave the table.
A ‘muslim peace’.
That's the only objective.
I thought they were all going to rush off and help Ukraine fight their war, but now they’re calling for a cease fire?? What a bunch of maroons.
Trump owns this war now - Biden II. Like the first time, he surrounded himself with a contradiction of foreign policy people which are leading him into disaster. His bluster and marketing wears thin as he continues to dither away with the Ukes. Dumbest of all is he pretends somehow to be a neutral actor trying to negotiate an end to the war. Hahaha, will someone explain to this fool that America instigated, funded, and ran this war from day one!
Perhaps there is another description besides “owns”
“fairly irrelevant” might better describe President Trump’s efforts in the war between the Ukraine and Russia. Trump can’t grasp the fact that there must be a winner. The issues at stake will continue until absolutely resolved.
Perhaps you’re right. Events in the battle field will determine the results not politicians at this point. But Trump had an opportunity to walk away but chose not to so as the meat grinder chews up the remaining Uke army and equipment he will be forced to allocate funds for arms. LBJ didn’t start Vietnam, but he owned it by his choices in office. Trump is destine for the same fate. And what’s next when the front pushes to the Dnieper? Pressure to send troops. Is he so stupid as to believe Americans will acquiesce because they’re called “peacekeepers” or “advisors?” Vance knows this is a losing proposition which is why he is dancing on a knife edge to be loyal but also signal to the base he doesn’t like it.
I will argue that troops will not be required.
The war will be won or lost in Russia proper.
Ukraine Air Power in the form of drones, Euro and American supplied missiles and now increasing everyday, F-16 and other new planes will destroy the Russian capacity to arm and support troops at the front line.
Sure, America has unlimited budget (read - print money) to waste on weapons that will surely get destroyed as the past years has shown. This is a plan only the neocons and MIC can love. Americans can look forward to more inflation and neglect while we support the Ukes. Yeah, that’s why Trump was elected /sarcasm. We couldn’t defeat sand monkeys in Afghanistan in two decades and you believe we will, at arms length, to defeat the Russians who actually have a vital interest in Ukraine. Laughable. Honestly, look at all the blood and treasure America has wasted in just the past two decades fighting other nation’s wars. We have been reduced to a mercenary army for the globalist, and flag waving American still believe it benefits its citizens who actually pay the price with lost sons and mounds of debt.
