The Only Reason for Picking an American Pope was to Fight Trump
FrontPage Magazine ^ | May 9 2025 | Daniel Greenfield

Posted on 05/09/2025 4:57:25 AM PDT by texas booster

Why pick the first American Pope now? Robert Prevost was made Pope Leo XIV as a counterweight to President Trump.

There’s been little ambiguity about the new pope’s politics and less about the overall agenda.

Pope Francis had all but rigged the process to assure another radical successor.

President Trump’s return represents an ongoing institutional crisis. The ideological battleground is going to be the border and Prevost has been chosen to lead the response in the largest sense possible.

Choosing an American Pope is supposed to raise the stakes and elevate a leader with the stature to rally opposition to Trump and more specifically to his immigration policies by invoking the familiar tropes about the need for welcoming in every single migrant.

That’s what this is about.

This is less about the long-term future and more about the next four years.

Our favorite writer states the quiet part out loud. We knew that Pope Francis has greased the wheels for the communists. Let's see the whitewashing of Pope Leo XIV as a moderate non-politician.

+++++++++

If this was truly the reason for picking him, then it was monumentally stupid. The dude running the Vatican will have zero impact on what Trump does on the border.

I agree. The only reason to pick an American Pope was to take on Trump, take on America and to bring the US back under western globalist control.

Somebody said and I understand predicted a year ago that the next Pope would be American. Why? Because last idiot Pope was so woke that a lot of the big USA money donations had dried up. This was a pick to hopefully get that money back. Won’t work if he’s just as woke as the last one.

Greenfield may have this all backwards. The Catholic Church has also selected a pope who comes from the only country in the world where Trump would win a majority of the Catholic vote.

I see the Catholic Church as an enemy of the USA.
That’s just the way it is.

Since this Pope’s allegiances are to the Vatican... Trump should kick the SOB out of the US, and take his citizenship.

Might upset the Catholics but if their Pope wants to engage in anti-US Presidential activities, as he has been doing, then maybe the Catholic Church in American can be Taxed like Harvard - as a political entity.

This might be a way to highlight Abortion within the Church and renounce the Godless Abortionist Pope. The Marxist Democrat.

Yes, a leftist in all the important ways. Illegal immigration? Check. One of the least ‘American’ of the American cardinals? Check. Protecting life in the womb? Not so much. Fundraising among Americans? Double check.

The truth about the Catholic Church’s ignorant stance on immigration as an answer to World Poverty.

The Church’s approach will make every place the third world. That, in their sick minds, is social justice. Let’s say they achieve it. Without the developed world, who creates the medicines to fight disease. And I mean the extinction level shit that used to wipe out half the World population? Think Bubonic plague.

Nobody does and that is that. Taken to its logical conclusion, the Catholic Church’s approach to World Poverty is to keep heaven stocked with an abundance of fresh souls.

Have you ever looked at how the Catholic vote gave us this immigration problem and has maintained it?

The pope will have no affect on U.S. policy. From what I’ve gathered, only approx. 24% of Americans are catholic. I for one, was born catholic, but am not a church goer, and many of my catholic friends don’t go either. Not that we are atheists, we just don’t support the church. I have to think there are many Catholics that could care less what comes out of the Pope’s mouth.

It’s all about the dollars. The Vatican was skimming 30% to 40% of all those USAID bucks going to Catholic Charities as “Overhead”.

Without US Taxpayer dollars, the Vatican will go bankrupt.

Progressives are already throwing their support behind Prevost, rejecting the idea of Catholic unity, and eager to marginalize the conservative faithful. In an appearance on CNN News Central, Left-wing Catholic writer Michael Sean Winters of National Catholic Reporter told conservatives who are less than thrilled with a pope who may prove to be Francis 2.0 that “if he’s teaching the gospel in a way that doesn’t cohere with your politics, as a Catholic, you have to ask yourself if your politics need to change.”

From another article at FrontPage.

Maybe being a well known Jew he wants to hold back?

Unknown.
