As a rule of thumb, whenever a government or similarly powerful institution says that something is true, it is best to assume the exact opposite until the facts of the matter are firmly hammered down. “Conspiracy theories” frequently prove to be partially or wholly accurate in the long run. People who dissent from popular “narratives” tend to be months — or even years — ahead of the corporate news talking heads when it comes to “breaking news.” Because “conspiracy theorists” are often far ahead of the news cycle, some people rightly refer to them as “Fact Hoarders” (hat tip to Chuck L. for that beauty!). Don’t be afraid to hoard facts.
Whenever political leaders reprimand citizens for doing their own thinking (Ignorance is strength!) and cheerlead for devastatingly costly and bloody wars (War is peace!), it is a particularly good time to question the dominant “narratives” running on loop in corporate newsrooms. Questioning everything is a good first step toward liberating a mind. Liberating minds is often the only way to prevent or conclude catastrophic wars. No matter how much today’s Ministry of Truth objects, freedom of thought is not slavery! Groupthink, on the other hand, is the mind’s most cumbersome ball and chain.

As Orwell warned humanity, the Deep State’s most effective weapon is language. By manipulating the meaning of words, governments try to reverse-engineer our thoughts. Here’s an example: Antifa. By any measure of property damage and physical violence (including murder), Antifa is a major domestic terror group in the U.S. and across much of Europe.
...
Joe Biden echoed claims from former FBI director Chris Wray when he routinely insisted that Antifa is “an idea, not an organization.” But it wasn’t an “idea” that looted your store and set it ablaze; it was a terrorist organization.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Great article. thank you...

Much truth to the article.
I worked for an outright leftist outfit once. Here’s where I learned group think is where a bunch of people get together to decide what’s best for all. The group simply echos exactly what their leader wants. Some of the dumbest decisions came out of the group.
That was probably partially what went on with the Biden regime. A depraved moron led the group, they all danced to his tune, and the country suffered.
Exactly.
This is why governments don’t work. Governments are bureaucracies and bureaucracies are risk-averse (there’s no incentive for risk). Being risk-averse, they seek to share the blame by trying to manage by committee.
Management by committee leads to groupthink and groupthink leads to conformity instead of creativity (i.e., seeking and implementing the best solutions).
This is why governments need to be restricted to a bare minimum.
I think this is one of the causes of Trump Derangement Syndrome. The Democrats are pro-government and they know Trump is running the government like a business (i.e., like a CEO). This is anathema to them.
If I were to hang my American and Israeli flags on my home near Portland, OR, the”idea” of Antifa would burn me out within a week, unless I defended it with deadly force.
BTTT
A lot of truth to that.
Might be an uncomfortable FACT, But peer mandated Group Think is NOT unique to the socialist Left...
I live in a deep red part of my state. There are Trump/Vance signs everywhere.
But when I wear my red Trump hat to Walmart, for example, I get murderous looks from some people.
Several years ago I wore it out to a Burger King, and an elderly man tried to pick a fight with me. He was so wobbly that he couldn't get out of his seat (he wanted his wife to help him get to his feet).
I don't know what he planned to do if he could actually cross the room and confront me.;-)
Agreed. It’s everywhere. That’s one of the reasons I’m not a joiner.
But we did. We joined the sect here and if you do not follow lockstep with the agenda and common consensus and dare think for yourself outside the lines you will get dogpiled. Absolutely no difference at all...
From where I sit, you have expressed yourself boldly. And done well with it.
I've never hesitated to speak my mind either. I will admit to picking my battles though because I don't want to get into p!ssing contests over issues I consider irrelevant. And there are plenty of people I avoid because they are either stupid or immature or both.
I didn't stop. But the complaints eventually stopped.;-)
I understand. And appreciate the honest observation. But it still does not address my point. My point is that you WILL INDEED get persecuted in mass. How we personally deal with it is another topic and secondary defense from the mass offense.
I know you see it. Cause “Squirrel!”... And the herd mentality is everywhere about every topic that is not perfectly lockstep. So my point is before we claim that it is only a liberal herd mentality we might want to look in the mirror first.
Two wrongs do not make a right. And if we cannot even honestly judge ourselves then we cannot claim righteousness. It is hypocritical. And no one has exempt status from this lack of virtue and self righteousness...
Herd mentality is herd mentality. Peer pressure is peer pressure. The source is completely irrelevant...
That said, I'm not much of a herd animal. I've always gone my own way.
It’s an excellent article,
Part of the myth of socialism is the belief that government experts provide the best advice.
I think Biden’s dementia progressed during his four years. At some point, he was completely out of it. Not a problem. Presidents are merely there to do what the experts say. From the perspective of the bureaucracy, he was a very good President, seldom getting in the way.
Government experts are advanced for going with the program, not independent thinking. They are there to take direction. In charge, they have nothing little to offer but inertia (and self-serving behavior).
The best experts are not in the government.
President Trump is acting like a President. He is providing direction. His direction differs markedly from his predecessors, and it is not appreciated!
Thomas Sowell once pointed out that intellectuals often fall for socialism because they work in fields where their ideas aren’t tested by reality.
If an engineer designs a building poorly, it leaks or collapses. Bad businessmen go bankrupt. Ineffective doctors lose patients. Bad plumbers don’t unclog drains.
But intellectuals face no such feedback loop—so they can cling to ideas that sound good but don’t actually work. Without real-world consequences, there’s no natural check on bad thinking.
As an aside, most sensible people recognize that socialism has been tried—and failed. But intellectuals with a bias toward it simply ignore those examples. Confirmation bias at work.
