The United States has reportedly encouraged intelligence agencies to ramp up spying efforts in Greenland amid President Donald Trump repeatedly floating the idea of taking over the Arctic island....
The Wall Street Journal reported, citing two sources, that high-ranking officials working under Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Habbard sent a "collection of emphasis message" to the heads of various intelligence agencies last week.
Intelligence agencies have been directed to learn more about the independence movement on the island and the general attitude of the Greenlanders towards American resource extraction, the Journal added.
The agencies have been asked to use tools like satellites, surveillance, and communication intercepts, as well as spies on the ground, to gather information on people in both Greenland and Denmark who favor Trump's ambitions.
Agencies involved in the Greenland order include the Central Intelligence Agency, the National Security Agency, and the Defense Intelligence Agency.
The Journal reported that while the National Security Council spokesman, James Hewitt, said that the White House will not comment on intelligence issues, he reiterated Trump's desire to acquire Greenland.
"The president has been very clear that the U.S. is concerned about the security of Greenland and the Arctic," Hewitt said.
"The Wall Street Journal should be ashamed of aiding deep state actors who seek to undermine the President by politicizing and leaking classified information. They are breaking the law and undermining our nation’s security and democracy," Tulsi Gabbard said in her statement to the paper.

I and President Trump are Jacksonians in foriegn Policy. It has NOTHING to do with Nation bulding. Look it up, you might learn something. If it can get past your TDS.
No, Operation Alberta is ongoing.
You would have opposed the reightous Mexican War, and called it Nation Bulding
The words “51st State” didn’t cross Trump’s lips this week after Carney asked him to stop insulting Canadians with it.
If it can get past your TDS.
Like typical leftists, you're both very quick with the ad hominem insults.
So, famously, did Henry David Thoreau.
And yes, I live in California. Had there been no Mexican War, I suppose I'd be living somewhere else. Such is life.
I can't go back and prevent the Mexican War, any more than I can go back and stop the Norman Conquest of 1066. But I can voice my opposition to the taking of Greenland.
No need for you to burst a blood vessel over it.
Yeah, it all just sounds contrived to me. 🙂👍
He humiliated Carney, Carney eas like a whipped puppy, and it was great.
Whig traitors opposed the war at the time
I belive wholeheartly in Manafest Destiny
That is Jacksonianosm. Neo- Cons are Hamoltonian.
First intelligence report after secret observations:
Greenland isn’t green.
It has ice 1.0 to 2.2 miles thick in some areas.
Trump got Carney elected, so a little “humiliation” is a small price to pay.
You are unbelievable. You sound like a leftist. President Trump is playing for a deal with Alberta.
President Trump was showing that we don’t need Canada for anything.
An observation + analytical reasoning + your posting history = conclusion .
DNCommie Narrative Control Cubicle Comrade

You really should seek professional help.
And you find fault with that?
Interesting.
You are truly an opinionated blowhard.
You really should seek professional help.
Actually, Freepers who support annexing Greenland have made the very same claim.
They've gleefully said that Greenland has only 50,000 people, and that once we annex Greenland it would be easy to resettle enough Americans there to quickly out-populate them.
