Sec. of Defense Pete Hegseth Orders Pentagon Purge — Demands 20% Cut in Woke Four-Star Generals and Admirals Across U.S. Military

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered a sweeping purge of senior Pentagon leadership, demanding a 20% reduction in four-star generals and admirals across all branches, according to a memo obtained by CNN.

Hegseth’s memo frames the cuts as “critical” for “removing redundant force structure to optimize and streamline leadership.”

As of February 2025, the U.S. military has 38 active-duty four-star officers across its branches: 11 in the Army, 3 in the Marine Corps, 8 in the Navy, 12 in the Air Force, 3 in the Space Force, and 1 in the Coast Guard.

The Space Force has only 9400 personnel, at most a division (two star) command in the Army. Why does it have 3 four star generals. The Coast Guard with 40,000 active personnel and an additional 8000 reservists has only one four star admiral, and the Marine Corps with 170,00 active personnel and 33,000 reservists has only 3.

I think it was during the Obama years that the Navy finally had more admirals than ships. And the next words out of the person's mouth was, "In other news ....."

It's not just the military. The US government has been totally out of control for a long time, and every day I see the stable that Hercules is supposed to shovel out has been getting bigger even while he is shoveling. I hope the next administration carries on this correction, because 4 years is going to seem like a short time to clean out the stable.
