ealth and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has pushed discredited claims that the MMR vaccine contains "a lot of aborted fetus debris."
He made the remarks during a town hall event on Newsnation on Wednesday, saying this "debris" was the reason many religious groups don't get vaccinated.
Why It Matters The claim comes amid a serious measles outbreak in Texas that has already claimed the lives of two children in a Mennonite community with low vaccination rates.
Kennedy Jr., who has long faced criticism over his comments about vaccines, has vowed to investigate the childhood vaccine schedule.
Despite this, in March, Kennedy Jr. wrote an op-ed for Fox News, urging parents to "consult with their healthcare providers to understand their options to get the MMR vaccine" but he also reiterated his long-held position that vaccination is a personal choice.
What To Know Kennedy Jr. made the aborted fetus comments after being questioned about his position on vaccines, which some have criticized for being unclear.
He praised the United States' response to its outbreak and then said: "There are populations in our country, like the Mennonites in Texas, who are most afflicted and they have religious objections to the vaccination - because the MMR vaccine contains a lot of aborted fetus debris and DNA particles, so they don't wanna take it."
"So we oughta be able to take care of those populations when they get sick," he said, "and that's something that the CDC has not done."

OK. Who can jump in here and explain why this is fake news. Cause its fake news.
Newsweak still trying to stir up crap. They hate that a Kennedy is working with President Trump...
Why is it? This has been talked about before.
Already discredited? He’s the Health and Human Services Secretary! If he says its there, THAT is the credibility that counters the former claim.
There was an initial claim, someone with authority suggested otherwise. Because they had greater authority than the one making the claim, its legitimate that it was initially disputed.
Even if the former HHS Secretary refuted the claim, his response shows that their response was a lie but they don’t get to hide behind the claim that it is discredited. He has the authority to discredit their discreditation.
“has pushed discredited claims”
I am amazed. He did not say “debunked”.
Another conspiracy theory that is true...
HOORAY RFK!
What’s fake?
What RFKJ is claiming?
Or, the NewsWeak statement that what RFKJ has stated has been ‘debunked’?
You didn’t clarify yourself.
No negative hook in the headline unless someone is dedicated to abortion. But the story is negatively focused as hell, pretty much par for the gerbils at Newsweek.
The core fact is that some religious groups have an objection to certain vaccines based on their beliefs. They are under no obligation to prove the science of that vaccine aligns with their beliefs. So they should have an alternate to those vaccines made available to treat the sick of their community.
Kennedy was very right to push for a broader treatment/prevention regimen.
But WHY?!?!
The rubella component of the MMR vaccine is produced using a fetal cell line, such as WI-38, originally derived from tissue obtained from an abortion in the 1960s. These cell lines are used to cultivate the virus for the vaccine. (Source: Grok)
Newsweek powered by the Pharma Industry.
That was my reason for not getting the shot before I even found out it was dangerous.
Does anyone remember the time many decades ago when Newweek was at least a little bit reputable.
discredited by whom?
“”the MMR vaccine contains a lot of aborted fetus debris and DNA particles””
.
I don’t care what religion one may be, that right there has a yuck factor of a 10x democrat “solution.”
.
It “live birthed” baby cells taken from living babies when the organs are harvested
Newsweek was always leftist.
They used to try to be sneaky about it.
These days the propaganda is blatant and endless.
