Yup—there are also a bunch of other intelligence agencies—some of which are not even publicly known.

It is a total quagmire—completely out of control.

Example—supposedly there is a Naval version of the NSA monitoring undersea communications whose name is classified. Some researchers have dug up hints of it while digging through FOIA document releases.

Homeland Security.

Foreign crazies attack us, we get a new domestic spy agency.

GW Bush’s real legacy.

Unfortunately correct.

In addition—while AI is still buggy in many areas it is on an exponential curve in the code-breaking arena.

We are not too far away from AGI cracking all government codes and having full access to all classified data from all nations.

From what I saw in my time in the Air Force, most of the Intelligence agencies were doing the same work as the other agencies, basically duplication of work. In one project of the lowest classification I was involved my organization sent the finished work to 12 other intelligence organization and before long one of those intelligence organizations in DC sent it back with our organization name blocked out and with their name on it as if they did the original work. My gut feeling is almost all the work we did ended up in the intelligence file 13 before a year was over, file 13 for those old folks like me that have a good memory, well at least I hope I do.

Good points—there has been a long history of inter-service rivalry as well as inter-agency rivalry on intelligence matters.

There is massive duplication for sure.

Compartmentalization makes it very difficult to communicate effectively to reduce that waste.

Yep, H.W Bush has become the ultimate CIA king of all time making him the shaper of modern America and much of the world, from killing President Kennedy to overthrowing President Carter and finding out that he could fit onto what must be the huge floor board of the SR71 which evidently can land in Iran and be serviced and return to America.

Evidently H.W. Bush was the dominate man of the 20th century because of that year he was appointed to be the boss at the CIA.

Since so many are not working at pre-Musk Twitter to spy on Americans, and all the USAID money that was paying for others spying on Americans, theses domestic spies aren't needed anymore.

The also intentionally buried intel on sex trafficking of minors and spied on political candidates.

Send them, and their resumes, to China. They can spy on TikThot users in China.

They have turned their focus with full fury against the American people and become deeply involved in domestic politics.
They must be brought to heel.

The sad reality is that intelligence agencies of different nations have more in common with each other than they do with the citizens of those nations.

They are the enemies of all individuals around the globe.

“National security” is used by all of them to hide the scam.

Good luck worrying about Putin and Xi while our Deep State turns us into the equivalent of Russian or Chinese citizens.

The enemy is inside the gates.

Putin and Xi will absolutely love this.

Perhaps. However, there is a lot of redundancy among the intelligence agencies. Reduction in staff of these agencies may actually increase their effectiveness by lessening duplication and encouraging efficiency.

Is it possible to have an effective spy agency without some of the off-the-books stuff? Doesn’t Jack Ryan always have direct authority from the president or the head of CIA to operate off the books. It doesn’t seen possible to have complete transparency because everyone leaks. Even very compartmentalized arrangements leak or are used for nefarious purposes.
