The prices of rent-stabilized apartments are set to go up in the Big Apple after the city’s Rent Guidelines Board voted in favor of potential hikes Wednesday.
The panel, which is charged with deciding rates for the Big Apple’s regulated apartments, agreed to rent increases between 1.75% to 4.75% for one-year leases and between 4.75% to 7.75% for two-year leases.
The board, which has increased rents by a combined 9% in the last three years, will finalize the rates in a June vote.
Any approved hikes would affect rent-stabilized leases that start on or after Oct. 1.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Rent control means landlord cannot raise rents (usually older buildings)...stabilized means they can raise rents within certain, predetermined percentages.
TY
Rent control advocates are best understood as animal rights activists—they love to see cockroaches and rats in apartments.
Lol.
I have a buddy who lucked into a rent controlled apartment in a midtown Manhattan luxury highrise. Doorman, front desk security etc. I guess part of the process to build a highrise requires the builder to pledge some units to be rent controlled. He will live there until he dies. He claims he got it via a lottery but I suspect he got it because he is active in the community - he donates his time teaching music to kids and the elderly. It’s straight up communism but the program exists and he backed his way into it.
Interesting
Doorman
Got to watch those doormen. They can be diabolical.
Diabolical doormen.
Yeah, I think I saw something on Seinfeld about that
:-D
