In a majority of states across the union, gas prices are now higher than they were on the day of Donald Trump's return to the White House on January 20, while in a handful they are exactly the same and only in a few they have fallen, according to AAA data.
The numbers show that, after more than 100 days in office, the U.S. president is still struggling to keep his promise to lower prices at the pump for American drivers, especially as his administration's tariffs threaten further turmoil in the global markets.
Gas prices surged under Joe Biden, driven by the chaos that unfolded after the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In June 2022, they reached a peak of $4.33 at the national level, after which they started falling, though they remained much higher than the averages reported before the start of the health emergency.
During his presidential campaign, Trump vowed to bring down the cost of living for Americans, including gas prices. "Starting on Day One, we will end inflation and make America affordable again, to bring down the prices of all goods," Trump said during a rally in Bozeman, Montana, last summer.
However, data shows that this goal is proving hard to reach for the U.S. president, with rising gas prices threatening to turn many voters against him.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
My gas prices (SE Oregon) have gone up.
Interesting, as fuel prices have done a bit of a bounce, but are still 10-20% less (depending on grade/type) now than when DJT was inaugurated.
You can chart it here: https://www.gasbuddy.com/charts
Crude price going down. Gas price not going down.
Down in NY and NH.
It is a lie, I live in MD and gas prices have absolutely gone down since Jan.
I have noticed the LSM has gone all out on the lies from polls to egg and gas prices on how trump has failed in his 1st 100 days. This is a massive propaganda push.
Too bad Guilia, like other hit piece writers, hide from our comments. I read just a few lines of her article and she says gas prices surged under biden because of covid and the russia invading ukraine. Gas prices surged because joe closed all federal drilling, closed coal mines, and didn’t have the gravitas to negotiate w/the Saudis.
Fake news.
Have state taxes gine up?
I’m in Upstate NY...Yes they’re down....and let’s remember...it’s 100 days...
This is lying MSN - believe 'em as far as you can throw 'em...
I couldn't find their "map" either.
Of course, this has nothing to do with seasonal demand, refinery closures and EPA/CARB reformulations, etc…strangely, no usual and customary springtime refinery fires(yet).
Do I really need a </s>
It is a hit piece. Gas is as cheap as it’s ever been in Phoenix for the past year.
I need to look up all the articles newsweak put up about the high gas prices during the biden admin.
Down a few cents for me. But not by much. What would really help is if home heating fuel would go down. It will take time for new fuel sources to get going. And then there is the resistance from the oil companies and the markets to lower the price even if the price of raw oil goes down.
When Biden, Obama, Clinton were in office we were ASSURED that the president had NO CONTROL over gas prices.
B.S.
It is about 40 cents a gallon less in my region than it was six months ago.
I’ll betcha that if there are some places where it has actually gone up is because the state / local leftist governments raised the taxes, or required ‘special blends to save the erf frum klimate change’.
Taking inflation into consideration of about 2% per year...
Gas prices are not that much higher than what they would have been if Trump had been president since the last time he was president in Jan 2021. Here in Florida they are a lot less than under Biden’s prices in 2024. But, prices fluctuate, depending on region and distributors and and oil prices.
It’s time for gas prices to go up again, as they do almost every end-April beginning-May. I’ll bet the leftist bastards are blaming that on Trump.
