The agency suggested that clinical trials in humans may be required for updated Covid shots, raising questions about whether they will be available in the fall.
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced a plan that would require placebo-controlled studies for all new vaccines, surprising some experts who noted that such testing already routinely takes place.
In a statement, Andrew Nixon, a spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services, said that “all new vaccines will undergo safety testing in placebo-controlled trials” before approval, and called the move a “radical departure” from existing standards.
Even though modern studies routinely use placebos, one exception has been the Covid booster shots, which have been authorized without human trials to target new strains of the virus as it has evolved. It’s unclear how the announcement will affect availability of Covid vaccines that were expected to be updated for the fall.
Mr. Kennedy also announced an effort Thursday for the National Institutes of Health to turbocharge the development of new inoculations for Covid, bird flu and seasonal flu.
The new vaccine development initiative would involve methods other than the mRNA technology used to develop the dominant Covid vaccines that are already in use, a statement from the Health and Human Services department said. The mRNA shots have been the subject of conspiracy theories, and Mr. Kennedy has intensely criticized them.
Taken together, the moves suggest that Mr. Kennedy will reach far into the details of vaccine development, an effort likely informed by his decades as one of the nation’s most vocal critics of immunization oversight.
Though some scientists say the quest to fully understand the possible unanticipated effects of vaccines is worthwhile, they also warn that doing so in a way that delays approval of lifesaving shots could jeopardize public health.

Not one vaccine in the CDC schedule was tested against a placebo.
“Safety” testing? How about “does it even work” testing?
And if it doesn’t then it should be illegal to sell and/or distribute as fraud and misrepresentation.

I have a black co-worker, still wears a mask and been vaccinated 9 times already for COVID is out of work AGAIN for COVID. This is his 5th time to catch it in the last 4 years.

The COVID shot for kids makes me angry. COVID had little effect on Children but the vaccine has terrible results. A family in Massachusetts fled to Texas to avoid these vaccines and Texas let Massachusetts win.

I have a friend who works tangentially in NY State health care, specifically with cancer and hospice patients (not as a doctor but a pharmaceutical rep). He's still required by the fascists there to get a covid booster. I think he's up to #7 or #8 by now.
I can't imagine the toll its taking on his body.
Even if they were, how would it prove the effectiveness of the "vaccine" in "preventing severe illness, hospitalization, or death"? How would you know if someone had a less severe illness because they got the "vaccine", or simply because for 99% of the population, "COVID" is the cold or a mild flu?
And since they no longer even try to push the lie that the "COVID" "vaccines" prevent infection and/or transmission, what is the point? The level of stupidity of the people getting the "COVID" "vaccines", or worse, the "boosters", is hard to grasp.
The FDA is a bad joke. They banned pseudoephedrine from over-the-counter sales. That pushed over-the-counter sales to phenylephrine, which they allowed to be marketed. Then, after decades, they declared phenylephrine useless as a decongestant. But it is still sold in “daytime” flu and cold remedies. If you can’t tell whether an oral decongestant works or not — and it should be pretty obvious within an hour or two — how are you going to know whether a vaccine works?

For a long time I assumed that the placebos that were used in these trials was saline or something, but I did some research a few years ago and found that is not correct.
if you look up the definition it says “A placebo is an inactive substance or treatment that looks identical to the real medication being tested in a clinical trial. It contains no active ingredients and has no direct therapeutic effect. Placebos are used in medical studies or clinical trials to compare with the actual treatment being tested.”
the AI now claim that there are not drugs and other active ingredients in the placebos used, but that is not what I found several years ago.
I guess you could look up placebo blinding, but there is much less info than there was pre-covid
