Witkoff: Putin sees opportunity for the ‘first time in decades’ for a relationship recalibration

U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff said Tuesday that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin sees an opportunity for the “first time in decades” for a U.S.-Russia relationship recalibration.

“I think that … he sees the opportunity for the first time in decades, to recalibrate the relationship of the Russian Federation with the United States, and it’s clear,” Witkoff told radio hosts John Catsimatidis and Rita Cosby on their WABC show.

“I’ve had four meetings with him, and not one of them was less than three hours,” he added. “And there was one that was close to five hours.”

In the first few months of President Trump’s return to the White House, his administration has pushed for an end to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, talking to both sides and pushing for peace.

A recent meeting between Witkoff and Putin brought the U.S. and Russia “closer” when it comes to Ukraine, according to the Kremlin. The two met in Moscow along with Kremlin foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov and Putin’s investment envoy Kirill Dmitriev.

Rubio was effusive in his praise for Witkoff in this today’s cabinet meeting.

For decades, the U.S. has been simping for Putin. Bush and Obama told him they would do anything he wanted. Why is the U.S. now a vassal state to Russia?

When it comes to Putin, I’d wait to make statements like this until after the deal is signed. Putin is a master manipulator who made comments like this to every administration, including Trump I. Putin will always put his interests first notwithstanding any “relationship recalibration.”

Let’s see. Hitler declares war on the US after our declaration of war against Japan-not smart. He has no long range bombers that can reach the US. So why did we have to join Churchill and the allies against him? Who would’ve won in Europe had we stayed out? I felt sorry for Poland and the Baltics so do we go to war for them(nato)now?

He has no long range bombers that can reach the US.

But Werner von Braun and his team at Peenemunde were working on the V-1 missile.

Come on. Like those V-2 rockets would get close enough like those submarines did?

I agree completely. The Russian People and the American People are natural allies. They have everything to gain and nothing to lose by a strong, loyal, mutually beneficial alliance. Russia is the nearest neighbor to the USA after Canada and Mexico.

Putin sees Trump caving just so he can claim the status quo is a “peace” deal, because Trump wants peace more then Putin does, just so he can claim he made the “deal”

“Russia has much we need, restart trade and commerce.”

Looks like Putin overplayed his cards and ticked off Trump.

Russia cannot afford to continue this war. They are going broke.
