Canadian Conservatives Back Poilievre After Election Defeat
Breitbart ^ | 04/30/2025 | John Hayward

Conservative Party of Canada leader Pierre Poilievre lost his own seat in Parliament in Monday’s election, but he has not resigned as leader of the party and some prominent Conservatives have spoken up to defend his position.

“There is no doubt that Pierre Poilievre and his team ran an incredible campaign,” former Conservative leader Andrew Scheer said in a post on social media platform X on Tuesday.

Scheer noted that while the Conservatives came up short of forming a government, they won “the highest vote percentage in modern Conservative history” and “the most amount of total votes for our party, ever” on Monday, leading to “new seats all over the country.”

“His inspirational leadership has brought more people into the Conservative movement. His continued leadership will ensure we finish the job next time,” Scheer said of Poilievre.

Just because it’s canaduh, doesn’t mean there wasn’t some vote tampering. Even if it was paper ballots, sneaky regressives are regressives, no matter what country they’re from.

He may be Mittens-lite but he’s the best we can hope for. Don’t know what’s next for him.

Something tells me Trump’s fracturing Canada like he’s fracturing the democrats.

The conservatives really didn’t do poorly up there. The Liberal Party won more seats because they got a lot of votes at the expense of NDP and Bloc Québécois candidates.

++++++++++

But he ran an incredible campaign. Incredibly pathetic.

Guy loses a 30-point lead in the polls in less than 5 months, loses his own seat in Parliament and some Conservatives still back him as leader and you wonder why the liberals won in Canada.

You would think for the good of the party and country, the guy would go away in shame for being such a bad candidate.

If you look at the exit polling, this election was about Trump. As silly as it sounds, Canada voted for the candidate that they thought would best stand up to Trump. The country is going down the toilet due to Liberal policies and all a lot of the voters care about is Trump. Poilievre was a decent candidate and had a good campaign platform that resonated with voters until about three months ago. Then Trudeau resigned and Trump started in with his “trolling” and the rest is history. Most of the blame for this act of national suicide rests with the voters. But Trump didn’t help matters with his self-indulgent “trolling.” It served no purpose and gave the Liberals traction to refocus voters from their policy disasters.

"His inspirational leadership has brought more people into the Conservative movement. His continued leadership will ensure we finish the job next time,” Scheer said of Poilievre.

As usual, the wrong person is getting the credit. The credit really belongs to Justin Trudeau.

I have never heard Mr. Poilievre speak as a politician to a large group. I get the impression, that he was critically short on charisma, or the ability to articulate his points and inspire passionate allegiance; a very useful skill.
He may be gone from the news cycle before I’ve even had enough time to learn the proper way to pronounce his last name.

It would seem you are correct. It also shows why Canada is doomed to be the world’s underachiever. They will regret what they have done soon. Poilievre went squish and came off as a me too loser

He drove away voters because he tried the Trump Sucks campaign.

Not because of Trump “trolling”.

Voters in the west love Trump.

One thing I like about Trump is his unpredictable nature. It tends to keep adversaries off-balance. But sometimes he doesn’t do a proper risk-reward assessment.

Trolling Canada: Risk is moderate. Reward is low (very little can be gained).
Therefore, don’t do it.

Kinda like playing poker. Don’t get involved in a hand when your risk is moderate and your reward is low.

“Conservative” in Canada and England isn’t the same as in the US.

They are farther left.

If Canadi a ns are so dumb that they throw their self-interest out the door because of something President Trump said then they are too stupid for self-rule.
