A Grammy Award-winning rock star left White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stunned with his question about free speech and political asylum during Monday’s briefing.

Winston Marshall, the former banjoist with British folk group Mumford & Sons, called on President Trump to grant asylum to his fellow countrymen and -women who faced prosecutions over “hate speech” in the UK.

Marshall, who left the band in 2021, claimed that people in his country faced “extensive prison sentences for tweets, social media posts and general free speech issues,” before ramping up to his question.

Interesting idea. I think it would be very disruptive to US-UK relations, but this is something to consider. If Trump or Vance were to declare that citizens of the UK can seek political asylum over speech crime laws, it may be enough to get the UK to stop their nonsense. Thoughts?

How about we swap some of our Democrat freaks for some of their normal people?

Marshall’s original sin took place in early March when he liked the wrong book written by the wrong journalist. “Congratulations @MrAndyNgo. Finally had the time to read your important book. You’re a brave man,” he tweeted.

This guy is one of the most articulate people on the planet.

I hope we’ve all heard at least one of his speeches before Parliament!

I doubt it.

Since the powers that be seem hellbent on destroying the UK, people leaving would not cause an issue for them. Except they’ll probably want to stop them from leaving.

Objectively speaking, they’re being oppressed and abused as purported criminals for speaking, or for praying silently, or for somehow expressing themselves without speaking, in ways our Constitution would protect (or at least not punish criminally), had they acted the same way in the United States.

That’s a lot of headway toward making out a valid prima facie claim or demand for political asylum...🤨
