MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A court affidavit identifies the two Booker T. Washington High School students who were killed in a broad-daylight shooting in South Memphis — Christian Brown, 17, and Darrius Wadley, 18.
One of four suspected gunmen was arrested after he was shot and dropped off at a hospital, according to new information from the court system.
Valdemar Patterson, aka Valdemar Richards, 18, is so far the only suspect in custody. He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Police say last Thursday, an Infiniti pulled into the South City apartment complex at Mississippi Boulevard and Lauderdale.
Surveillance video shows four suspects, all armed with guns, getting out and walking through the complex and shooting both victims multiple times, police said.
As they got back into the Infiniti, police say Patterson was shot by someone inside the apartment complex. He fell out of the car onto the ground.
The Infiniti began to pull away, but stopped. Two suspects got out, dragging Patterson back into the car and speeding away.
About six minutes later, the car pulled into Methodist Hospital on Union, and Patterson was “dumped” in the ER area, shirtless and wearing a “Pooh Shiesty”-style mask, police said.
He was identified by family at the hospital, photos and clothing left at the scene.
Patterson faced an arraignment Monday and will have a bond hearing Tuesday, court officials said.

What the media was doing - as if it needed doing - was getting the school’s name out there - Booker T. Washington - as an obvious signal as to the how and why.
As if the location of South Memphis wasn’t enough of an obvious sign of the race and culture of those involved.
Exactly.

Were they Honors students?
On a varsity sports team?
Pending college scholarships?
Were they on the debate team, chess club, 4H, or Co-Op work study plan?
Did they take shop classes or building trades?
