MUSCAT, Oman (AP) — A massive explosion and fire rocked a port Saturday in southern Iran purportedly linked to a shipment of a chemical ingredient used to make missile propellant, killing four people and injuring more than 500 others.
The blast at the Shahid Rajaei port happened as Iran and the United States met Saturday in Oman for the third round of negotiations over Tehran’s rapidly advancing nuclear program.
While no one in Iran outright suggested that the explosion came from an attack, even Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is leading the talks, on Wednesday acknowledged that “our security services are on high alert given past instances of attempted sabotage and assassination operations designed to provoke a legitimate response.”
For hours, authorities in Iran offered no clear explanation for what caused the blast at the port, which is just outside of Bandar Abbas, though they did deny that the explosion had anything to do with the country’s oil industry.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
What “emerging peace” is disrupted by an explosion in an Iranian port?
It could have been static electricity.
Another “work accident” in a Moslem country. Gee, that’s a shame.
The Beirut explosion of a few years ago comes to mind.
iran blew it ……
That was verifiable as ammonium nitrate.
some dock worker’s pager went off?
In both cases, it appears that fire was the proximate cause.
In the center fuel tank.
Workplace accident, common in the Islamic world . . .
Tsk, tsk, tsk. One might think you doubters were anti_Semitic.
If Massad can kill over 1000 Hezzies with pagers and such, why can’t they slip some unstable explosive into the shipping containers? Don’t even need a timer. Just an explosive that is sensitive when it leaves a refrigerated warehouse and sits on a wharf in the sun.
“ Anything to strangle the emerging peace in its crib.”
It seems to me that blowing up missile fuel that was intended for use against Israel or ships in international waters would actually be conducive to peace.

Achmed, give me a light...
Here’s a video of what looks like a chemical fire before the huge explosion

Whoopsie!
Maybe we should break some Matzoh in celebration for this?
Thank you friends.
