The City Council passed a slew of bills Thursday — including one that would ban noisy non-essential helicopter flights from city heliports following the horrific crash in the Hudson that killed a family of tourists and another to add a new gender ID to city documents.
The two bills easily passed the Democratic-majority council but still need Mayor Eric Adams’ signature to become laws.
A proposal aimed at cracking down on tour and commuter helicopters passed near unanimously — just two weeks after a couple and their three young kids visiting from Spain and a Navy veteran pilot all died when their chopper broke apart and plunged into the Hudson River.
Intro 26-A would prohibit such “non-essential” choppers that fail to meet FAA noise standards from using two city heliports at East 34th Street and Wall Street, beginning in late 2029.

What? They missed an opportunity to add the most important requirement:

▶︎ add new gender option to city documents
▶︎ add new gender requirements for helicopter pilots

Only two weeks out and with the cause of the helicopter crash into the Hudson River still under investigation by the NTSB and the FAA...we MUST pass laws!!!
I assume that it's "essential" that politicians, government bureaucrats, and politically well-connected CEOs and celebrities continue to take helicopter rides.
And that the skies be cleared of middle class riffraff.
What happens if you change your mind about your gender later? Is the document no longer valid? Is it fraud?

Another reason stipulated in the bill was that one helicopter tour company, Mi General Pinochet Helicopter Tours, was witnessed dropping known Communist tourists into the East River.

If they added a “Y” as well, I wouldn’t have any problem with it.

The proper name for this group should be The Communist Council of the City of New York. It has been that way for years.
