'The door is closed': Would-be migrants head home, encampments disappear amid Trump border crackdown

"The door is closed," said a would-be migrant to the US. Yorman Briceno, who was anticipating applying for asylum in the United States, has found his plans stalled as he waits at a shelter in Ciudad Juarez, near the border crossing at El Paso, Texas. The Trump administration has not only quashed illegal immigration but has put a chill on legal immigration as well.

"There's no more hope for entering legally as long as Donald Trump is there," Briceno told The Wall Street Journal, "and anyone telling you otherwise is lying." Border crossings have hit their lowest level since the 1960s as President Donald Trump enacts his promises to shut down illegal immigration.

"We've noticed a huge reduction in flows," Inspector Eduardo Esparza said. Across the border in Juarez, the Mexican government has erected tent cities to accommodate those expelled from the US by the Trump administration. Ahead of the 2024 election, migrants surged across the border, hoping to make it in before a potential Trump presidency.

The Trump administration is also trying to conduct mass deportations of illegal immigrants. This includes gang members who are being sent to the El Salvadoran prison CECOT. 53 percent of voters are in favor of Trump's plans for mass deportation and border security.

Under Biden, crossing at a border checkpoint and then never leaving the country, was considered "legally" entering the country. They're upset that Trump has put a stop to that practice.

The media is really really concerned about the illegal aliens who haven't been able to cross the border into the U.S.

As to the American citizens who are harmed in so many different ways by the invasion, they show little concern at all.

The U.S. Congress is a disgrace to humanity. Unless Trump’s directives are codified into law by that august body, the next POS Democrat who wins the White House will do exactly what Biden did and reverse every one of Trump’s EO’s. A year later we will be printing money to explode inflation and gift these South American bastards with all of the freebies the Biden judges are so angry that Trump took away from them.

We surely enjoy legal foreign visitors, like tourists and businessmen.
Come over, enjoy US hospitality and LEAVE!!!

But unless team Pam/Kash/Dan wake up and prosecute those who greased the chains of in-migration AND team Kristi/Tom get actual mass deportations, we’ll just have millions added to the 60 million here currently as soon as we are post-Trump.

Border crossings have hit their lowest level since the 1960s as President Donald Trump enacts his promises to shut down illegal immigration.

Trump put a stop to it - and Americans will NEVER again believe 'it can't be done'. Democrats say you can't close the borders without giving millions of illegals amnesty? They lied - and the only people stupid enough to believe it now are the democrat's butt boys in the press - - people who believe anything that drops from a democrats mouth...

Re “… Trump put a stop to it - and Americans will NEVER again believe ‘it can’t be done’. ”

If it’s not codified into law then it doesn’t matter.

It’s a temporary speed bump, nothing more, unless Republicans in congress grow a pair of balls and make it law… otherwise, all of the efforts it took to get Trump elected is meaningless.

Trump is simply following existing law. If someone has a visa and a passport they can come in, visit and then go back home.

Exactly, it was a fairy tale that “immigration law” needed to be changed to stop the flow.
Existing law would do that if it was enforced.

Its the same as if speeding laws were not enforced then most everyone would speed, saying that the reason folks were breaking the speed limit was because we needed new laws to enforce speed limits is just as absurd.

We
Know what dims mean by “comprehensive immigration reform”

“There’s no more hope for entering legally as long as Donald Trump is there,”

What a stupid statement. ‘Legally’ is the ONLY WAY in now.............

“Border crossings have hit their lowest level since the 1960s as President Donald Trump enacts his promises to shut down illegal immigration.”

This is music to my ears. Now that the spigot has been turned off, it’s time to deal in a decisive way with the leftist obstructionist federal judges trying to prevent deportations.

“”The door is closed,” said a would-be migrant to the US. Yorman Briceno, who was anticipating applying for asylum in the United States, has found his plans stalled as he waits at a shelter in Ciudad Juarez”

It should be noted that Mr. Briceno is from Venezuela, meaning that he’s already landed in a safe country, Mexico, assuming that he was planning to claim asylum - so, by INTERNATIONAL LAW, Mr. Briceno’s claim should be processed in Mexico, and if approved, he gets to stay in Mexico. If not Mexico gets to send him back to Venezuela - the US has no business being involved in his life. Again, according to INTERNATIONAL LAW, Mr. Briceno has no right to choose which country he ultimately settles in, at least as a ‘refugee’.
