Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth shared detailed plans about a military operation against the Houthis in Yemen on a second Signal group chat that included his wife, lawyer and brother, three people familiar with the chat told CNN.
The revelation comes as some of Hegseth’s closest advisers have begun sounding the alarm about the secretary’s judgment, including his former press secretary, John Ullyot, and three former senior officials Hegseth fired last week — his top adviser Dan Caldwell, deputy chief of staff Darin Selnick, and Colin Carroll, who served as chief of staff to the deputy secretary of defense.

“In general, journalists should avoid using anonymous sources to make accusations or derogatory comments, a practice sometimes called “an unattributed negative.”
Why? Simply because it can look dubious and has a hint of unfairness. Negative comments from an anonymous source might lead readers to believe that someone with ill-will is hiding behind their anonymity to evade the consequences of their statements.
And, the target of the negative statement has no idea who is making the comment and why.”
If it turns out to be true, Trump will hit the ceiling - “dammit, I told you to careful!”
How about his dog.
Shouldn’t we know the truth about this, even though Hegseth is obviously a target of the Dems?
in this case “sensitive military information” most likely equates to non classified, open source information.
Wmwhat a coincidence. I question the judgement of Natasha Bertrand, Jake Tapper, Haley Britzky and Zachary Cohen.
Truth and CNN don’t belong in the same sentence
Maybe they need more severe punishment than being fired.
Allen Dulles and John Foster Dulles used to chat.
What a damning thing, that 3 people Hegseth just fired are now complaining about his judgment.
Dog bites man. What a story, cnn.
“A couple of those fired are the likely anonymous sources and might be the same anonymous sources the NYT is citing.”
My thinking is that the whole meeting was a setup - to SMOKE OUT the leakers, and given that 3 were just canned, I’d say the plan worked!
Too bad, so sad, NYT.
“three people familiar with the chat”
more anonymous rumors being reported as “news” by the leftist TDS corporate propaganda media ...
“Shouldn’t we know the truth about this, even though Hegseth is obviously a target of the Dems?”
seriously? you think “three anonymous sources” SUPPOSEDLY talking to the worst liars in the corporate TDS leftist media is good enough for you to call for an investigation of the “truth”?
When the fake news finds fault, you know good things are happening.
Yup.
“Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth shared detailed plans about a military operation against the Houthis in Yemen on a second Signal group chat that included his wife, lawyer and brother, three people familiar with the chat told CNN.”
CNN hops aboard the NYT Maggie Haberman “confidential sources” article.
Sure. Sounds legit./s
three former senior officials Hegseth fired last week — his top adviser Dan Caldwell, deputy chief of staff Darin Selnick, and Colin Carroll,
Relax a little. This is the same raid event, same day, different call.
These three weenies have an axe to grind. The truth will come out and it usually isn't what the NYT smears as news. It would be interesting to know if the three leakers are career bureaucrat holdovers.
The good news is that they are gone and won’t be back. I bet that they they had already passed the “story” on to CNN. Trump didn’t fire them quick enough in his first Administration.
