What a shame it would be to loose a rock solid conservative. He’s very young, so 2028 is not the end point if he does not run, as JD is going to be the natural candidate following Trump, unless the political winds turn after the midterms.
DeSantis is awesome, whatever he wants.
No. He did not “miss his shot”. However, he has to recalibrate his relationship with the whole of the Republican electorate - including the MAGA faction that is currently only Republican because of Trump.
I am one of those “anomalous” college educated Americans who strongly endorse the MAGA agenda. DeSantis has the opportunity to learn. For the future, I hope he does so.
I do not believe DeSantis is the next heir apparent. The paduan has much to learn.
(DeSantis is awesome, whatever he wants.)
I think you meant to say whatever his wife wants!
If he wins, I'll recommend DeSantis to be SecState.
He needs to veto Casey’s ridiculous plan to run.
He’s a lawyer. I don’t see him as presidential material.
He changed the law in Florida so he could use his gubernatorial funds for his presidential run, angering many who would never have given him a penny if they knew he was going to run against Trump.
If he follows Trump’s lead, he’ll get it. If not, he won’t. It’s pretty much that simple.
Missed his shot. NEVER should have taken on Trump
He ran against Trump after the steal.
Excellent Governor. One of the first to go full bore at the press, so a nice innovation. Not charismatic an too much if an opportunist to create his own popularity, so not a lost opportunity. He was never the guy.
Vance wins, hands down. Unlike Ron, Vance knew enough not to listen to Mrs. DeSantis and go viciously on the attack against Trump.
And besides that, Vance is kicking ass as VP - best that I’ve ever seen.
You are misinformed as to who holds the veto pen in that relationship.
His presidential aspirations are not over, but you make a good point about how he needs to repair his image with the base of the Republican Party. The base of the party is more populist and more supportive of an inward looking political agenda that supports America first above all else. The return of the globalist GOP of the Bush years only exists among the establishment elites.
I wouldn’t count DeSantis out. 2028 is a long ways away in political terms, and if the Republicans do poorly in next year’s midterms, it may change the political direction of the party again.
'Shame on you,' DeSantis responds to Hope Florida allegations

DeSantis is pretty young when considering his chances to serve as president.
I could see a Vance/DeSantis ticket and I would indeed support it.
