As I said above, I completely misread this as I jumped from another thread about the Texas murderer who just stabbed the teen in the chest.
Obviously, if one is being beaten by five people, that is a different thing. Having been on the losing end of a four-on-one once upon a time, I can understand that.
But pulling out a knife because someone shoved you or grabbed you and killing someone...I see that differently, and I thought erroneously that was what this was about.
This was a different case.
Goodness ... so many comments, so few reading this article. This is not the recent case in Frisco, y’all.
“My mistake-I, as is often the case, did not even read the title...not the right case.
I would have to look at the specifics of this now. My apologies.”
It takes a big man to admit he’s wrong. Have a GREAT day !
But kudos to the ones correcting their error. Carry on.
As I age, I am often as wrong as I am right, so I get plenty of practice!
I see the stabber got a similar deal that bible salesman Karmelo did, so I guess that seems consistent at least.
However, the white kid will go down for the crime and it won’t be self defense. Karmelo will walk with a slap on the wrist.
Good point
Perhaps not his friends?
Commit a murder, collect $400,000, walk out on bail and buy a house...
The article presents peripheral facts — who went in the restroom, who ran off, the stabbed guy seen bleeding, whose mama said something. Unless I missed it (always possible), the case is short on proving what actually happened. If this is all the jury has to work with (and maybe there is real evidence the journalist didn’t bother with), the verdict should be not guilty.
The Defendant’s position seems to be that he defended himself after being attacked by five guys, four of whom must be the prosecutions’ witnesses. If these witnesses admitted being part of the 5 on 1 attack, THEY would be responsible for Ramirez’s death. Their testimony is worthless. Unless the Defendant told someone he went in with intent to kill Ramirez, or otherwise confessed that it was not self defense, there is no case here.
He can buy himself a house. But it will never change what he did. He is a scumbag down to his bloody core.
I have no doubt he will go through the sucker money pretty quickly.
I hope that the jury gets it right.
“shouldn’t carry a knife”: this is the same sort of statement that gun grabbers use to disarm folks. It is certainly possible that this guy was carrying a knife ‘cause he had been routinely threatened over time.
If someone is making threatening gestures/statements that I can think (in a moment, not upon reflection) are putting me in fear of my life or my family; I am going to draw and shoot until the assailant is down.
To not recognize this issue tells me that you’ve been coddled and protected your entire life. Too bad for any children you are responsible for.
Let me also point out that the remainder of that post clearly states that I favor self defense with a weapon.
Maybe you should reread my post.
5 on 1?
In using deadly force in most states you are justified if you are defending yourself against serious bodily harm. Five people beating the crap out of you to me would be serious bodily harm. If that is what happened I hope he gets off and the other four that participated in this beat down have serious consequences to deal with.
This story is new to me so I looked for older reports and found this
It states that the police have video of the actual fight.
It seems odd to me that a bathroom would have video cameras in them but I suppose if fights in the bathroom are a problem in this school maybe it was necessary.
This current report does not mention this.
But a video of the fight does not tell you what was in the kid’s head in the moment.
And maybe Ramirez had a habit of bullying Allison and Allison had reached the breaking point.
It is an interesting case.
Actually, the two cases are similar.
Both happened in Texas. But, in the 2022 stabbing, the students were 18.
More details here:
According to that article, the video doesn’t show the stabber being jumped by a group.
The article says...
- The two students had an argument over a girl after the prom.
- Video footage shows the victim and his friends enter the restroom first.
- Then, the stabber enters the restroom with a friend.
- Moments later, everyone runs out of the restroom.
Cell phone video inside the restroom shows...
- The victim took a swing at the stabber first.
- The stabber pulled out a knife. A loud scream is heard, and the video cuts off.
As the article at the top says, the stabber’s $1M bail was lowered to $175K, and he’s been out of jail (but on house arrest) ever since.
See the link at post #37. It was a cell phone video.
Thank you very much for that summary.
Man. I sure am glad I grew up way back-a lot of stressful and bad things could happen in school, but they didn’t involve getting murdered.
Me too.
