Zelenskyy claims 'Russian narratives are prevailing' in US during '60 Minutes' interview

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia’s narrative around its war with Ukraine was "prevailing" in the U.S. and the Trump administration during an interview on "60 Minutes" Sunday night.

Zelenskyy told correspondent Scott Pelley about his thoughts after reflecting on the explosive Oval Office meeting between him, President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance in February. Pelley noted Zelenskyy struggled to make his points to Trump prior to that meeting, particularly after Trump accused Zelenskyy of being a "dictator."

"I believe, sadly, Russian narratives are prevailing in the U.S.," Zelenskyy said. "How is it possible to witness our losses and our suffering, to understand what the Russians are doing, and to still believe that they are not the aggressors, that they did not start this war? This speaks to the enormous influence of Russia’s information policy on America, on U.S. politics, and U.S. politicians."

He said he grew more frustrated as Trump and Vance described both Ukrainian and Russian forces suffering from the war, claiming Vance was "justifying" Russia.

Not so much as a “Russian Narrative” I believe it’s a very bad Zelenskyy Narrative. He’s an acrimonious, putrid little man. His country needs to find another President - quickly.

If he has a valid case to make, he should be making it not to Pelley (and not so publicly, arguably defiantly) but to Trump and Vance—directly, and personally.

After watching golf and going to the kitchen to fix a snack, I returned to the den with Zelenskyyyyy’s hobo mug filling the screen. I’m very proud of myself that I was able to stay my arm from hurling the remote through the screen.

Deep state gonna deep state.

Exactly. I can’t stand lil’ z. I want him to fail. Imagine what would happen to him if Putin took over.

I am not a Zelenskyy fan.

But I get where he is coming from. He turned down a good Russian proposal at the very beginning of this. One that would have kept most of his country intact and saved a few hundred thousand lives.

Instead he listened to Boris Johnson and lost about a third of his country and killed a few hundred thousand young men. It must be very hard to live with himself. Lucky for him he's a ruthless narcissist so he likely doesn't dwell on it too much.

Now he keeps crying out for Justice and guess what no one else wants to sacrifice the lives of their young men and women so Zelenskyy can feel better about himself and his poor decision making. You are bordering on being a delusional dictator.

Despite the fact that it’s common knowledge, these “news” organizations continue to put out stories that either stretch the truth or are flat-out lies. Glad that the President isn’t going to sit around and take this nonsense. They’ve done it with ALL Republican Presidents while treating Democrat Presidents/candidates with kid gloves and, as Trump points out, “creative” editing.

The President has made progress on making ALL Americans aware of this and I hope he continues to bash them.

I had just finished watching the Masters and just happened to catch the beginning of Scott Pelley introducing the Ukraine bit. Pelly was saying how Trump had praised Putin and criticized Zelensky. When he looked into the camera he tried to convey the emotions of tragedy and grief on what he had just said.

So, that reminded me of the present state of journalism on the nets. The little weasels go in now for “performative” newscasting; they act out the lies they tell with expressions of anguish and grief when talking about Trump. The obnoxious and revolting Rachel Madcow neve lets her acting drop for a second as she peers into the camera.

Thats the thing. We all know he is nothing but a puppet but, the little SOB constantly opens his mouth and insults everyone around him. He has done that since the beginning of this conflict.
He needs to go.

This has nothing to do with Russia/Ukraine. It all has to do with the deep state covering up the crimes they committed in Ukraine and their anger at not having the country to use as a permanent slush fund / playground anymore.

In view of the ambush in the Oval Office, you cannot possibly be serious.

In fact, Zelinski did make his case to a joint session of Congress to the universal applause and admiration of all America including the Republicans.

When he tried to make it to Trump he walked into a trap. Trump Outrageously called him a dictator, said he started the war, misrepresented the amount of money America had contributed to Ukraine, and then actually said that Zelinski had "disrespected" the Oval Office.

Turn reality on its head if it amuses you, but those who have not drunk that Kool-Aid on that bit of history will abide in reality.

He blundered and now he’s in fear of losing power. If he loses control, he may have to live in exile because a lot of Ukrainians aren’t happy with him.
