Trump is walking a tightrope. If he stayed safe, trade imbalances would only worsen.
If he went full on with tariffs on our electronic gear, he’d send the price of an average cell phone to over two grand.
He’s not caving. He’s making careful concessions benefitting all parties.
This is a good move.
Chips are designed in the USA, fabricated in Taiwan, tested in Malaysia and then assembled in China, Vietnam or India.
Too many connections plus it keeps Apple happy until they can pull their operations out of China.
Aka China, Taiwan and rest of Asia.

If you ever understood anything about negotiation ,which I don’t think you do, You never give something away with out getting something back. I am wondering what Trump got in exchange for this.
