Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 2501 Westridge Street April 10, 2025 The fatal shooting of a man at 2501 Westridge Street about 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday (April 9) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury
The identity of the deceased male, 18, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The male shooter, 20, was not injured in the incident.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Patterson and N. Henderson reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a home invasion call at an apartment complex at the above address and were told by witnesses that three males attempted to get into an apartment. One masked male knocked on the door while the two other suspects forced entry through a window. The persons inside the apartment called 9-1-1.
One of the suspects pointed a gun at one of the tenants, who knocked the gun out of the suspect’s hand. A struggle ensued during which the suspect pulled out a second gun from his waistband. The male wrestled the gun away form the suspect and shot him. The two other suspects fled the scene on foot.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the suspect deceased.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and it was determined the case would be reviewed by a grand jury.
Anyone with information on the identities and whereabouts of the two wanted suspects is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.

The unidentified corpse is (was) probably an illegal invader.
Let me guess “excessive force”. (sarcasm)
All homicides in Texas are investigated by a Grand Jury.
From what I have seen, it is a pretty decent system with a significant number of “no bill” findings, which is to say the Grand Jury did not find sufficient evidence for charges to be brought against the individual.
Criminal carrying a second gun is VERY rare. Last time I heard of that is when a pharmacist in Shelbyville, TN back around 1997-1999 I knew personally had that happen to him. He took the first one away from perp and the punk pulled a second one. Danny got that one too, but I think he was wounded in the process.
He chose, poorly.
Well, the shooter had already taken away two guns, so he might have reasonably assumed that the invader was unarmed and unlikely to use deadly force. He might have been better off if he had shot the other two since they hadn’t had any firearms removed from their persons yet.
In Texas you can shoot people for a lot of reasons, and I think one of them might be home invasion.
I should add - “armed or not”.
Sometimes “he needed killing” can be an effective defense down here.
