House Republicans pass bill requiring proof of citizenship to vote
THE HILL ^ | 04/10/25 11:43 AM ET | by Rebecca Beitsch

House Republicans for a second time passed a stand-alone bill that would require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections and impose voter roll purge requirements on states.

The legislation — formally titled the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act — passed in a 220-208 vote.

Four Democrats — Reps. Ed Case (Hawaii), Henry Cuellar (Texas), Jared Golden (Maine) and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wash.) — voted with all Republicans in favor.

It’s already illegal for those who are not U.S. citizens to vote in federal elections, and has been since 1996. But proponents of the bill have argued it is necessary to prevent migrants from voting in elections — a claim contradicted by data showing only a handful of documented cases.

“There is nothing more sacred under the Constitution than ensuring that the people are able to have the voice in the election of the people that represent them in Washington, and throughout the country,” Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), one of the sponsors of the bill, said, thanking Cleta Mitchell, an attorney who helped President Trump challenge his 2020 election loss, for her work on the bill.

“Once that is undermined, then people lose faith in the very institutions upon which this is built. This legislation is designed to restore that faith, to save our elections, to save election integrity.”

I hope the require states to wipe out the registration rolls and begin over again. I definitely wouldn’t have a single problem reregistering. And do it every four years.

The Democrats are a well funded criminal organization, they can hide the crimes with the best of them. I suspect this bill won't help much, reforming mail in voting would.

Wow, this is impressive, and four democrats joined the republicans.

Now we need to pray hard that it passes the Senate as well.

Sounds fine, but not practical.

Wiping out the rolls and registering all citizen voters, would be very costly and time-consuming. So, it won't happen, especially in the blue states or blue counties.

But, what is to stop democrats from declaring foreigners/illegals as all new citizens and then go about registering all of them as legal citizen-voters? Who's going to investigate that?

The next thing is to get democrat senators to vote on the record again as being opposed to election security; 2026 is not far away.

I advocated for that plan some time ago.

FREEZE all current voters rolls.

DO NOT DESTROY-—KEEP FOR EVIDENCE.

Starting at Jan 2, EVERY SINGLE VOTER MUST RE-REGISTER. MUST HAVE PROPER ID. KEEP LOCAL REGISTRAR’s OFFICES OPEN ON SATURDAYS TO ALLOW EVERYONE ACCESS. THRU JUNE 30.

THEN RECONSTRUCT WHOLE NEW VOTING ROLLS.
AUDIT AS NECESSARY

ESPECIALY IF NUMBERS ARE WAY OFF.

IT WILL HAPPEN IF ORDERED NATIONWIDE & ALL CURRENT VOTER ROLLS TAKEN FOR EVIDENCE.

ANY COUNTY THAT REFUSES LOSES ALL FINANCIAL AID FROM WASHINGTON & STATE..,.AND NONE OF THEIR RESIDENTS CAN VOTE IN ANY ELECTION.

When a liberal objects ask if they think gun owners should register their weapons every couple of years. Nothing can overcome Trump derangement syndrome

It took me 15 minutes and the Net to find out via state records where I and my parents were born.

Eureka! I’m an Art. II, §1, Cl. 5 natural born citizen.

This is just a continuation of the great work done by the RNC in the last election.
Did the rodents cheat in 24?
Yes but not nearly enough to steal our freedoms.
We are continuing to chop away at the rodents’ cheating machine.
We have cut off a lot of dirty money by destroying ActBlue and this bill helps. It fits well with fractal the system that finds fake registrations in real time.
Is it foolproof? Almost.
The USSC has already approved voter ID many times. This is very good news.

They are afraid of voters ID, because they think black.folks can’t get an ID, and they have decided voters ID is racist.

Perhaps we should be asking what, if anything, WOULD facilitate purging re registering only the legal voters? Is there anything?!
My guess is yes and we haven’t thought of it. Tried it or invented it yet.

Now we can call it Bi-partisan...

Just like they do when just one Republican votes with them...
