New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signed three gun control bills on Thursday. The bills ban certain gun mods, make gun shops post clearer warnings, and change how gun sales are tracked.
“New Yorkers are sick of weapons manufacturers ignoring their role in the gun violence epidemic,” said Democratic Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon, who sponsored the bill in the Assembly. “Glock has known that its pistols can be easily and cheaply converted into illegal fully-automatic machine guns. It’s time to put people over profit.”
S745/A439 changes how credit cards categorize gun vendors, requiring the companies to use new merchant codes for gun sellers and shops. The bill drops ammo dealers from the law and covers only dealers of firearms.
“By requiring the use of merchant category codes for firearm and ammunition purchases, we are equipping financial institutions with a critical tool to help detect suspicious activity before it becomes a tragedy,” said Democratic Assemblymember Michaelle Solages, the Assembly sponsor.

“This ‘law’ is obviously targeting law abiding citizens who “stockpile” ammo for SELF-DEFENSE.”
Hochul and her people are a disgrace.
The worry about this law is that Credit Card companies might just implement it universally nation wide. Similar to what the Auto manufacturers did with emission controls to satisfy California. Rather than just build special for Ca requirements they just added the requirements universally across the board to all the states even though the other states did not require them.
As Credit Card companies “adjust” their systems to track this for NY are they just going to just make it a “one size fits all” universally across their whole system and all the states? We would actually never know if they did or not... An internal whistle blower would have to come forward to expose it if they did.
People don’t use cash for all firearms and ammo purchases?
“People don’t use cash for all firearms and ammo purchases?”
Should, but it is too much work for most to count money. Much more “convenient” to just tap a card.
Think I’m kidding? We are so lazy we went from sliding cards to inserting cards to tapping cards for “convenience” and less “work”.
“Hochul and her people are a disgrace.”
I beg to differ,
they are not even people.
They are the kinds of mammals
that ran death camps
in our previous wars.
We do gun shows here in the nanny state. Still have to go through the NICs check for both, so it’s recorded somewhere what you’ve purchased. And how much of it.
Ammo sales too? Here in PA ammo has no paperwork. And we can have private sales of firearms.
They are savages.
Abortuaries are the modern day death camps Hochul embraces and forces taxpayers to fund.
Yep, NICs check for ammo. Ridiculous isn’t it?
And what happens if you buy your ammo for cash across the border in Pennsylvania ?
