Ferdinand Porsche became widely known as the brilliant engineer behind the bestselling Volkswagen Beetle and some of Porsche’s first sports cars. But like his creations, the German industrialist had a dark side that is impossible to separate from his technical achievements. During the Second World War, Porsche’s manufacturing business, along with many others, became a key pillar of the Third Reich – helping to sustain Adolf Hitler’s war effort by churning out tens of thousands of militarized versions of what would later be renamed the Beetle. Yet amid a new era of European instability, the Porsche clan has revealed it is mulling a return to the defense business as part of a new “core investment” plan. “The focus is really on defense, because this is what it is all about,” said Lutz Meschke, head of investments at Porsche SE. He did not say how large the investment would be or where it would be targeted, suggesting that the company may also look at infrastructure. […]

"Brilliant" eh? Those cars died like clockwork because of the integral oil cooler that restricted and heated the air flow to cylinder #3.

I can’t remember the Italian name but it translated out to “pretty, but blows up when hit with a rock”.
Every single business concern in Nazi Germany was mobilized for the war effort. That was the defining characteristic of “NATIONAL SOCIALISM”.

True but the movies don’t have much legendary dialog about them like this from Kellys Heroes. Granted they used Tiger 1s and not the King Tiger with Porsche turret....still
Kelly: Well Oddball, what do you think?
Oddball: It’s a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with Tigers.
Big Joe: Hey look, you just keep them Tigers busy and we’ll take care of the rest.
Oddball: The only way I got to keep them Tigers busy is to LET THEM SHOOT HOLES IN ME!
Crapgame: Hey, Oddball, this is your hour of glory. And you’re chickening out!
Oddball: To a New Yorker like you, a hero is some type of weird sandwich, not some nut who takes on three Tigers.
Kelly: Nobody’s asking you to be a hero.
Oddball: No? Then YOU sit up in that turret baby.
Kelly: No, because you’re gonna be up there, baby, and I’ll be right outside showing you which way to go.
Oddball: Yeah?
Kelly: Yeah.
Oddball: Crazy... I mean like, so many positive waves... maybe we can’t lose, you’re on!
I thought it was the Bee.
PORSCHE MADE TRACTORS FIRST
