Immigrants who are in the United States illegally have just a few days left to register to be in the United States or face having a criminal conviction on their records, Corey Lewandowski, a special adviser to President Donald Trump, told Newsmax on Saturday.
"On April 7, the Alien Registration Act will be in effect," Lewandowski told Newsmax's "Saturday Report." "What that will mean is, if you are in this country illegally and you have not registered to be in this country, then you will have a criminal conviction on your record. And once we find you and deport you, you will never return. So this is a warning for anybody who is in this country illegally."
Trump, on his first day in office, issued an executive order directing the Department of Homeland Security to ensure that immigrants comply with registering with the government.
"If you have not registered under the Alien Registration Act on April 7, your time is up," Lewandowski said. "It will be a criminal conviction on your record. We will find you, we will deport you, and you will never be allowed to return."
Lewandowski, who met last with leaders in Mexico, Colombia, and El Salvador, said the United States' message to them was very clear.
"They understand that our borders are closed and that there is a proper way to come into this country," he said. "We're going to build a big, beautiful door in that wall. We're going to do it legally."
Otherwise, Lewandowski said that the Trump administration is going to "close the border and deport the bad guys."
Lewandowski said that part of his trip involved a visit to the maximum security prison in El Salvador, where the United States is sending accused gang members.

So, with one fell swoop, President Trump has removed the argument that most of the Illegal Aliens are law abiding.
Either they self identify or they become criminals with a record!
Is my President Awesome or What!
I have to wonder how this works.
If we don’ know that there here how do they have a record?
If they have never been in a US court how do they have a conviction record?
When I was a nipper, there used to be TV ads in January, I think, reminding all aliens that they had to register their presence with the government. This was every year. Don’t know when or why the practice was stopped.
so you sign up which tells them where you are
or you get a criminal conviction as opposed to a civil one(entering illegally)
lets hope this helps the self deportations
It is no different than a bank robber. There is no punishment until she is caught. If an illegal fails to register, when she is detained for any reason, she will be deported and never allowed to return legally. If she bothered to register, she may apply for legal status.
if they are caught would be assumption
i think the purpose is to encourage self deportation
I understand the purpose
How they can make it work legally with some chance of surviving court challenges is the question.
Those were LEGAL aliens. Such as those on student long term visa. I was one of them. After my employer company sponsored me for green card visa, I was put on a waiting list, and was required to register every year.
When you let your license tag expire, as I did last year, you have a conviction without going to court. I had to pay the fine.
The wording of the article seems to suggest that if they don’t register before tomorrow and they caught Tuesday, somehow they automatically have conviction for illegal border crossing without ever being in court.
How this works in a way that can survive a court challenge is the mystery.
Fines are not considered convictions and only require a court appearance if you wish to challenge the fine.
And I believe drop off the record after a few years.
“Fines are not considered convictions and only require a court appearance if you wish to challenge the fine.”
One, there is no way in hell I can challenge the fine.
Second, either I pay the fine or will be unable to legally drive my car and could wind up in jail if I was caught doing it.
Third, what more could a court conviction amount to?
Next time I suggest you vote for Heels-Up if that smooths your feathers.
Anyone who enters United States without a visa is breaking EXISTING LAWS. Can a judge ignore breaking EXISTING law?
Odd thought, same for illegal men under 25 and selective service. All men, regardless of illegal/legal under 25 have to register for selective service.
Wow, you just instantly jump to Troll mode.
Will they be thoroughly vetted ???
That was for IMMIGRANTS not illegal aliens
We had to prove our current address
