Germany has embarked on its first permanent foreign deployment since World War II, with the nation's parliament approving the dispatch of troops to eastern Lithuania, along NATO's eastern boundary.
This marks a historic moment for Germany, as it will be the inaugural occasion of a continuous German military presence overseas since the Second World War.
The full operational capability of the unit is expected by 2027. Brigadier General Christoph Huber, who leads the brigade, stated, "We have a clear mission. We have to ensure the protection, freedom and security of our Lithuanian allies here on NATO's eastern flank."
While Germany has previously sent troops to Afghanistan as part of international coalitions, those forces were never stationed there indefinitely.
The newly formed 45th Armored Brigade, which boasts about 5,000 service members, will call the eastern portion of the country home. The brigade was officially instated at an activation ceremony near Vilnius, the Lithuanian capital, with a provisional command post already in place.

Another step toward WW3!
Is this an expansion of the Ukranian War?
Time for the U.S. to exit NATO.

???”overseas”???
But when Germany shows military force, people snark about Germany reverting to its old ways.
Some of the same people, I assume.
Were they wearing Polish uniforms?
Valid point.
(See my post 6).
The Germans ran Mazar-i-Sharif Afghanistan, or “Camp Marmal” in 2019. I guess that doesn’t qualify somehow.
But Germany’s Deep State still refuses to institute a draft.
Can’t be took worried about the Rooskies, can they...
Your blood and treasure first this time, Europe.
Germany’s going in that direction...
Told members of the AfD they can’t be cops of own firearms, even for hunting...
And then there’s this...
Well, maybe if they sailed from Bremen across the Baltic to Lithuania... But yeah, hard to say 300 miles across land is “overseas”.
Just so everyone knows - this time its OK
Because they are neo-marxists, not national socialists.....
Germany is always looking for a war they can start. They like false flag incidents too, so keep an eye out.
Has Germany left a Russian body dressed in a Ukraine uniform yet?
It’s the 1930’s again.
