House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) abruptly canceled all votes for the remainder of the week, halting progress on critical conservative legislation—including the SAVE Act and measures to rein in rogue judicial activism—despite having full authority to keep the House in session.

Noooo!
Oh the shark, babe, has such teeth, dear
And it shows them pearly white
Just a jackknife has old Macheath, babe
And he keeps it outta sight
You know when that shark bites with his teeth, babe
Scarlet billows start to spread
Fancy gloves, though, wears old Macheath, babe
So there’s never, never a trace o’ red
Now, on the side walk
Ooh Sunday morning, ah, ah
Lies a body just oozin’ life, eek!
An’ someone’s sneaking ‘round the corner
Could that someone be Mike the Shiv ?
There’s a tugboat, huh, huh, down by the river dontcha know
Where a cement bag’s just a’drooppin’ on down
Oh, that cement is just, it’s there for the weight, dear
Five’ll get ya ten old Mikey’s back in town
Now d’ja hear ‘bout Louie Miller?
He disappeared, babe
After drawin’ out all his hard-earned cash
And now MacHeath spends just like a sailor
Could it be our boy’s done somethin’ rash?
Now Jenny Diver, ho, ho, yeah, Sukey Tawdry
Ooh, Miss Lotte Lenya and old Lucy Brown
Oh, the line forms on the right, babe
Now that Mikey’s back in town
I said Jenny Diver, whoa, Sukey Tawdry
Look out to Miss Lotte Lenya and old Lucy Brown
Yes, that line forms on the right, babe
Now that Maikey’s back in town.....
Look out Mikey’s back!
.
Grow a backbone Mike.
The Blackmail Bank of America sent a notice of “overdraft” to Mikey and told him to shut it down.
He should have made the Rules Committee meet at 5 PM to mark up the two bills that didn’t have anything to do with Proxy voting, have the rules voted on by the committee at 6 PM, then called the House in session at 8 PM to vote on the rules package so that the bills could be passed today.
That’s what Nanzi would have done—no, actually Nanzi would have called in Luna and blackmailed her into shutting up and toeing the line, which is what Dems do to their people all the time.
Some Dem Congressional bimbo slipped in a bill to allow new parents to vote in Congress from home.
Speaker Pelosi with a two person majority:
I got the gavel, so deal with it bitch. I will slash, burn, and get my programs.
Speaker Johnson with a seven person majority:
I have a slim majority, so I will tiptoe, cringe, retreat, and surrender.
Just another example of the Republican circular firing squad. They never learn. SOS different day.
Congress can’t harm “We The People” when they aren’t spending US into slavery.
"Some Dem Congressional bimbo slipped in a bill to allow new parents to vote in Congress from home."
Pretty lousy timing. The working public picking up the tab for these spoiled brats has had to raise their families and make decisions accordingly. I suggest they join with us and do your damned jobs.
9 foolish Republicans sided with the Democrats and derailed the President’s agenda, so Republicans lost the majority; lunacy
Maybe he’s waiting for the 2 newly-elected Florida Rs to get settled in. I think they’re being sworn in tomorrow. Too many slimy Rs that he can’t trust — he needs the 2 new guys as backup.
“so Republicans lost the majority”
I am not referring to that isolated event. That is his perpetual state of mind.
I’ve always liked Rep. Anna Paulina Luna but I don’t believe both men and women in congress should be able to work remotely — especially not for 12 weeks.
Congress shouldn’t have privilege beyond of what working Americans have. If a young woman was ever elected president, would they get 12 weeks to work remotely?
She’s also been out in left field on the JFK assassination stuff. It appears there isn’t much to support her theories.
I hope she gets back on track because I always liked her.
That's plausible. I do think MJ is on Trump's side.
Suspect that's true, but plenty of blame to go around.
Paulina--or any new mother/parent-- is out-of-line. Find a frkn baby-sitter for a few hours to cast your vote in person, and avoid opening Pandora's box. New fathers were sure to demand similar amenities
Nor did Johnson need to shut it down, unless your premise is a real concern.
They actually included fathers in the bill: Up to 12 weeks voting virtually after dropping a kiddo.
(Imagine if Musk were in Congress, he’d be voting that way most of the time!)
Why blame Mike Johnson and not Chip Roy’s pals??? Didn’t hey join ranks with the Dems to screw over the GOP??
