Why is DOGE Struggling to Find Fraud in Social Security
Washington Post ^ | 2/23/2025 | Todd Frankel, Hannah Natanson

Posted on 03/25/2025 7:18:57 AM PDT by joesbucks

Some of the biggest examples of allegedly wasteful spending held up by Musk and DOGE so far have been overblown or inaccurate. Musk’s assertion that tens of millions of dead people over 100 years old are receiving Social Security benefits was so off-base that it had to be tamped down by the agency’s acting head.

Can’t they just run a query to find who is improperly getting funds?

The feds have been blocking DOGE from accessing raw data, including names.

Another article says they got 7 million social security numbers of people over 120 finally listed as deceased. That to me is cleaning up potential fraud. So I think this story they are having trouble finding fraud is incorrect from the start.

But there are multiple millions of dead people being used by living thieves to steal billions of Social Security dollars from taxpayers.

The Post lies. Musk never said that, he just said they were on the rolls, in the database, not that they were necessarily drawing benefits.

I quit reading there.

How do these two pixies working for the Compost know that DOGE is struggling to find fraud in Social Security. We already know that 40,000 U.S. Government employees don’t pay taxes. I’d say there is some fraud there somewhere.

Why can’t the Washington Post just be patient? They are just getting started and perhaps they are being very careful. The whole sytem they are dealing with is old and outdated.

Like the Washington Post.

Journalistic sophistry.

Don’t think of Social Security fraud.

Think of the fraud that leverages Social Security (employment, benefits, taxes, etc.).

The SSN is the key that enables the fraud in other areas.

Last I read, SS is planning to require an in person visit for those accounts in question, and that will require time to establish the process.

That is exactly what he said. The democrats are getting nervous and trying to downplay their fraud.

I would guess those scumbags are dipping their nasty paws into lots of taxpayer funds.

I don’t believe it.

Anything involving the government I expect to be rife with fraud.

“...struggling...”

Propaganda.

Suggesting that the DOGE inspectors are helpless, amateurish. Not to be listened to by serious people.

The judges won’t let them have access. The first and only look they had showed numerous duplicate numbers being used as well as all the dead people not marked as dead. Let them in there, let them trace duplicates and they could very well save SS for additional years as well as making. Voter rolls more accurate.

They could. They’ve always been able to trace and track multiple uses of the same number. THEY DON’T WANT TO.

To me, the biggest misuse of funds is SSDI and SSI, plus reciprocal country agreements whereby a legal immigrant can helicopter their parents in and have what ever pension system they had COUNT HERE.

If DACAs and other illegal immigrants are given citizenship, the SS floodgates will be open and we’re truly effed.

The article starts with a lie. Musk never made that assertion.

Yes, they are mincing words.
The 120-200 year old's are not actually getting SS benefits.
Very few are actually getting a check.

What they are doing is using that SS number to apply for other government benefits. or they they using they SS number to get a drivers license. They are using the real SS number fraudulently.
