Campaigning Skadden associate resigns citing Big Law's failure to challenge Trump's attacks on law firms

A lawyer at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom who helped coordinate an open letter calling on the leaders of US law firms to speak out against the Trump administration's efforts “aimed at dismantling rule-of-law norms” has given her conditional notice to the firm.

Rachel Cohen, a Chicago-based associate at Skadden since 2022, revealed the move on LinkedIn today (21 March). She said she had contacted "multiple trusted partners" in the firm's management after President Trump issued an executive order against Perkins Coie on 6 March, but her emails had gone unanswered or received delayed responses.

The Perkins Coie order is part of a move by Trump to target law firms that he maintains have supported efforts to unfairly prosecute him or help his opponents, alongside a broader effort by his administration to challenge diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies.

I can see why her husband got out of dodge as fast as humanly possible.

Hey, Ms. Two-Year Associate - nobody cares about your moral outrage, and the partners are telling each other you’re a liability. You’ve guaranteed that none of them wants you attending partners’ meetings.

So, no problems with lawfare and no problems with going after lawyers giving Republicans legal representation, but big problem going after those?

If it weren’t for double standards, some people wouldn’t have any standards at all.

Just another immature, self-entitled, American Bolshevik.

Would not survive a month on her own without strong conservative men.

The very type of woke, sniveling democrat that needs to be taught a lesson in life.

“This is not what I saw for my career...”

Typical spoiled brat typical for her age. It’s all about her.

The way I interpret it is that she’ll change her mind and stay if the whole law firm will do it her way. Such self importance.

Looking at her face and reading that insane email I assumed no man would ever get involved with her.

I would. She could, for example, leave some of that bright red lipstick on my front shirt tail.

aimed at dismantling rule-of-law norms

Not rule of law, but big law "norms" which have subverted our justice system so much that there is no justice.

She said she had contacted "multiple trusted partners" in the firm's management after President Trump issued an executive order against Perkins Coie on 6 March, but her emails had gone unanswered or received delayed responses.

These “multiple trusted partners” knew immediately that she’s either: (A) a moron, or (B) a loser engaged in a duplicitous PR campaign.

No responsible lawyer would ever transmit an internal e-mail like this.

Yes, no problem whatsoever with kicking Rudy Giuliani out of the DC Bar, of bringing similar ethics charges against John Eastman in Arizona for daring to challenge the validity of an election, of pursuing state electors for fighting the certification of flawed election results, of armed FBI agents in combat gear arresting an anti-abortion father in his home, early in the morning, hogtying him in front of his children and his neighbors and hauling him away, of having CNN tipped off on raids by FBI goons in combat gear and taking Roger Stone and Paul Manafort out of their homes in front of live camera, of putting Peter Navarro in chains at Reagan Airport, of putting elderly people in prison for walking into the Capitol at the invitation of the Capitol Police, of pursuing protesters on specious felony charges so they commit suicide, of out of control far left lower court judges totally ignoring any legal basis for shutting down the efforts of a duly elected President. I could go on but this “principled attorney” is so one-sided and full of herself that she would have none of it.

She might leave some unknown/unwanted STD a little higher up than just your shirt tail. I'd never trust a lawyer that close to my most prized parts.
