The Trump administration is seeking new terms for US access to critical minerals and energy assets in Ukraine, widening its economic demands on Kyiv as it pushes for a peace deal with Russia.
Washington wants Kyiv to agree to detailed provisions about who owns and controls a joint investment fund, and to a broader scope, potentially covering US ownership of other economic assets such as Ukraine’s nuclear power plants, two Ukrainian
This would amount to a reopening of the yet unsigned minerals deal hatched days before presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy fell out in public at the White House.
Speaking at the White House on Thursday, Trump said the US was looking to sign deals on rare earths and minerals across the world, but that Ukraine was a special focus.
“We’re doing very well with regard to Ukraine and Russia, and one of the things we’re doing is signing a deal very shortly with respect to rare earths with Ukraine,” he said, but did not offer further details.

Unfortunately, Russia will control most of the rare earths in those four former Ukrainian oblasts. Under the Istanbul Accords, the Ukes would have kept all their rare earths. Thanks Boris!
Screw ukraine. It’s a crooked dem/NEOCON/one world govt country.
NATO pushed Russa into this war and people who aren’t that sharp fell for it.
Endless war...great.
Trump should let this thing go...z the jerk already said he wants all land back.
He can go to hell.
We want to get paid back.....if it doesn’t happen Mr. Z...you’re nothing but a crook....which we already know.
There were no Istanbul Accords, nor did Putin ever agree to leave Ukrainian territory.
A rare earth deal makes sense but no way should we get involved in owning Ukraine’s power plants to get us entrenched in the aftermath of that war as their tool for deterrence of another war. There is no guarantee the Ukraine component won’t sabotage them to draw us into a war with their Russian enemy
That is a concern but remember, for a peace deal Z and his henchman must leave.
BS! You, my FRiend, are wrong.
Show me the text of the accords or a public announcement from both sides that they had reached an agreement. Just a reminder, negotiations were going on after the Boris Johnson’s visit and were called off, not by Ukraine, but by Russia. This story that there was an agreement that was scuttled by Johnson is pure Russian propaganda. Russia was still making extreme demands that Ukraine would never have accepted. Indeed, they are still making the same demands today. Russia’s demands go way beyond no NATO and the handing over of some border provinces.
