On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “AC360,” New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) said that she would make sure education funds are spent properly, but “Heaven help the Republican states who might take that money and do something that’s not focused on feeding hungry kids, helping kids with disabilities, and everyone else that the Department of Education helps.” And declared, “Just leave everybody alone. Leave the parents alone, leave the kids alone.”
Hochul said, “Right now we get $6 billion from them in New York state, 2 billion for Pell Grants to give people a pathway to higher education, $2 billion goes to school lunches. Like I said, I was in an elementary school this morning, watching the kids eat their breakfast and lunch later on in the afternoon. There are families who cannot afford to feed their kids a lunch.”
She continued, “So, is he saying he’s going to spread the same amount of money we get now and hand it back to us? I know how I’ll spend it as a Democrat, and I’ll make sure it goes to the right place. Heaven help the Republican states who might take that money and do something that’s not focused on feeding hungry kids, helping kids with disabilities, and everyone else that the Department of Education helps. So, why do this? Why are you unleashing this chaos on the people who put you in office? Just leave everybody alone. Leave the parents alone, leave the kids alone.”

Typical dishonest politician parasite.
Just like the rest of the rat party, and their RINO collaborators.
With SNAP, welfare, Earned Income Tax credits, hell, the vast amount of opportunities in this country - how is this even possible?!
Say the folks who called parents arguing at board meetings terrorists
What she is saying is that non democrats are too stupid to control their funding.
This DOE break up will only make strong red states stronger. Smart families will migrate to red states.
Nope.
Parents will have to step up and decide to raise their own children the way they want it to be done and not surrender them to the state.
“Leave the parents alone”
Boy that is rich, rather Trump should leave the kids in our demented control.
So New York went to Trump in 2024? I did not know that!
Oh, like she did with forced Covid clot-shots for the students? STFU, Kathy!
So moving control of education back to local school districts is attacking parents. The worthless idiot interviewing just sits there listening to that BS
She almost got it right.
Leave them KIDS alone!
As someone who attended university in the mid-60’s, and then again in the mid-90’s, I can attest to the fact that the students entering in the 60’s were better educated, more willing to do hard work and learn, and more mature overall.
The students in the 90’s were in many cases in remedial math...remedial math in university! Remedial reading! They were unprepared for the minor amounts of reading and none did papers. In the 60’s, hundreds of pages over the courses needed to be done every week. Papers were also required to demonstrate mastery.
The DOE has denigrated the education system. It needs to go and the money and control sent back to the states and communities.
I used to get PB&Js with an apple. Always made a dent.
“Heaven help the Republican states who might take that money and do something that’s not focused on feeding hungry kids, helping kids with disabilities, and everyone else that the Department of Education helps.”
So now the department of education is a welfare department?
“Leave them KIDS alone!”
“We don’t need no education!” - Just another brick in the wall.
Federally funded school lunches was camel’s nose in the tent. Now girls are forced to strip for boys. A good experiment would be to stop school meals and see if the kids starve. A lot of them could lose a few pounds.
DOE doubled spending.
Kids are worse off.
Kill it.
