President Donald Trump is moving forward with plans to abolish the Department of Education.
Trump is expected to sign an executive order following through on a campaign promise to disband the department, claiming on the campaign trail that the department was full of "radicals, zealots and Marxists."
A White House fact sheet states that the move will "turn over education to families instead of bureaucracies. Trump and proponents of eliminating the department have long said the agency has failed American students.
"NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress) scores reveal a national crisis — our children are falling behind," Harrison Fields, the White House principal deputy press secretary, told Fox News. "Over the past four years, Democrats have allowed millions of illegal minors into the country, straining school resources and diverting focus from American students."

The teachers like illegal immigrants. It is job security for the. Instead of going to the other countries to teach, they stay here, command great salaries and get to teach at cushy teaching jobs. Oh,, yeah, more violence. But that’s because every student has to stay in school for reimbursement. So they don’t get expelled. Modern teaching, and unions, are a racket. End it at the federal level.
President Trump is hitting the left simultaneously at every possible angle, and it is very fun to watch.
I do not think he can eliminate the Ed Department in this manner, since it was created with legislation. But... I hope this works.
Either way, he has put the issue on the front page and I’m confident we’ll come out better on the issue once it’s all come to the final point of the matter.

The probl3m is that he can’t do it without congressional approval- needs 60 to vote in favor. He can however severely limit it, but of course the left will get in touch with their inner demons and scream and holler the whole way through.

Yep. In fact, Trump cannot abolish the Department of Education as it was created by federal law and not by a presidential executive order.

Side note: I’m a retired teacher. And I believe anything with the word “education” in it should be abolished. And that most definitely includes university schools of education. Those places are toxic.
Oh, and fire any pompous teacher who prefers to call himself an “educator”.
Actually they won’t even have to scream. He just has no authority to completely abolish it, any more than he has the authority to abolish the Dept. of State. It is clear that the courts will reject this abolition.

Also, in some states each public school receives $5000 extra for EACH ESOL (English as a Second Language) student!

I think the term is "flooding the zone" and they must have been working out this strategy for the last couple of years.
They knew the left would resort to lawfare, which is why Trump initiated so many changes so fats\\st - so far the Left has sort of kept up, but that will come crashing down soon.
Look at the polls - Americans overwhelmingly still support Trump, NOT the unelected judges.

For decades the GOPe talked about overturning Roe v Wade and abolishing the Department of Education.
Both were little more than talking points which gave them a political position in opposition to the Democrat wing hence creating the illusion of two opposition parties in mighty opposition.
Nearly the first thing Jethro Bodine Bush did as a “compassionate conservative” was get in bed with Teddy Kennedy on an EXPANSION of the federal gubmint in education with a catchy marketing phrase called No Child Left Behind.
It was a big beautiful gift to the teachers’ unions and celebrated by Elite Stream Media as “bi-partisan” which EVERYONE now knows is just a euphemism for uniparty and swamp.
We know the Bush and Kennedy Crime Families are joined at the hip.
The big mouth Kennedy nothing burger spilled the beans back after 2016 when she said she had visited Daddy Bush and Babs at Kennebunkport and both told her they had voted for another member of an infamous political crime family, Crooked Hillary Clinton.
The irony is Trump chose a Kennedy to head a cabinet post.
The laugh now is that Kennedy is being accused by nearly everyone in his family as being the black sheep of the clan.
That is rich coming from a family made of little but black sheep.
