A 5-year-old North Texas boy died Monday after being hit by a school bus, according to the school district and Texas Department of Public Safety officials.

While I love Daylight Savings Time, it should be clearly obvious to everyone that it is still pitch black at 6:00 am and little children should not be forced to risk their lives before daybreak.

Start school later.

Little children shouldn’t have to get on a bus at 0600. WTH? I know grown folks who don’t get up that early to go to work!

The driver would not have been able to see a short kid run along the bus and stand directly in front of the bumper.

This is tragic for all involved. The kid didn’t think he could knock on the door, it seems.

Fair enough. Meanwhile, where was a parent walking the 5yo to the bus door?

The bus stop should not have been assigned there.

Start school later.

No, leave the clocks on standard time, and it won’t be dark in the morning (or evening), when kids are getting on or off the school bus.

There are no cameras on all sides of school buses with alarms if objects are detected? That’s ridiculous in 2025.

This kid started this stupid learning academy at 4 years old back in September

It’s not a kindergarten it’s a day care. His mother works. His father is who-knows-where not supporting the mother to be able to stay home with this kid or walk him to the freaking bus top at 6 freaking a m

Why do women (I’m a woman) not get married after they date someone whom they judge to be good provider and have kids after they’re married and have a home

They way it has been for centuries before the ‘70s when we abolished the gold standard and ran up the deficit then taxing the crap out of the middle class who have to all work and conveniently for this grifting government pretend women working and single parenting and the government and day care taking over our families is a good thing for stoopid women.

A 5 year old meetings. School bus inthe dark? In practically the middle of the night. What?

Ima combat veteran nurse. I rarely had to live through conditions that ridiculous

Children have to be taught how to behave around a school bus. Apparently this child wasn’t.

This story breaks my heart because I knew a little boy of sic years old who got off the bus, and was rolled over by the bus as he went to cross the street to greet his mom who was waiting for him on the other side. It was around 3:15 in the afternoon. Broad daylight, and that poor mom watched her child get crushed by the schoolbus.

The kids on the bus screamed at the driver to stop, that she’d just hit someone, but she kept going for a bit.

It was a terrible thing to endure for all concerned. I feel for the family of this little girl. They are in my prayers.

He was running on the driver's side. Then ran across the front to get to the door.

In Maine one school district has started a younger “school” for children 6months to 4 years, so then they can transfer to preK.

Government childcare.
