Judge goes ballistic as Trump lawyer reveals why administration ignored order to turn around deportation flight

A judge has slammed a lawyer representing the Trump administration for ignoring his order to turn around a planeload full of illegal immigrants en route to El Salvador.

More than 200 suspected gang members from the feared Tren de Aragua who were illegally living in the United States were sent to El Salvador on Sunday after Trump invoked the wartime Aliens Enemies Act.

US District Judge James Boasberg had issued an order to temporarily halt the deportations, telling Trump's lawyers in court that any plane already in the air must turn around and return to US soil.

But a later written ruling was less specific about those details, and the Trump administration claims it followed that, rather than the oral directive given in court.

In a tense hearing on Monday, Boasberg slammed that excuse, instead summarizing the administration's position as: 'We don't care, we'll do what we want.'

Justice Department attorney Abhishek Kambli said the administration 'believes that we've complied with the order.'

Boasberg hit back, saying an order is an order regardless of whether it is written or provided orally in a court room.

'You're saying that you felt that you could disregard it because it wasn't a written order,' Boasberg said.

Wrong approach. They could ignore it because the commie scum judge isn’t the head of the executive branch, the president is.

Leave Boasberg alone.

That son of a bitch Boasberg needs to be in jail for his part in the FISA spying scandal.

I believe he is the Chief Justice in the DC Circuit, so all evil resides in him.

If it was important, it would have been in writing. Isn't how judges get to be judges? If this guy wants to just talk and not act, or at least write it down, he should run for Senator.

In classic fashion the Daily UK mail is lying and misrepresenting the facts.

The Judge was fully aware such an order can only be enforced once it is put to writing. That even came out in court. The judge had a hissy fit because he was reminded of that and he himself was forced to follow the law. The judge even said he will make sure he puts the rest of his proclamation in writing immediately.

The judge’s preferences do not apply in International Airspace.

Suck it.

The judge doesn’t have the authority to return the flight or order a president to do something. He can by law interpret the law to mean something but it is not within his capacity to enforce it. No where in his job description does it say he is law enforcement, only juditial power to interpret law.

Go read the transcript, the paper is literally lying about what happened. Also such an oral order from the bench is NOT enforceable against the Executive branch until entered in writing, there are very specific legal reasonings for that.

Are you saying Trump was wrong for following the law?

Boasberg’s latest ruling is a contempt trap for DOJ lawyers. They need to just file a request of a 30-day continuance, citing a “scheduling conflict.” The D.C. Court of Appeals controls the D.C. Bar and could yank the law certifications of DOJ attorneys, as they did in CA to John Eastman. I suspect this may be up their sleeve next. Thank God Trump chose EXACTLY the right case to defy a judge. The American people will oppose a judge who tries to bring gang members BACK to the U.S.

No. Because you're out of line.

Agree 100%, including the implication regarding his maternal lineage. Regarding his paternal lineage... his parents lacked marriage.

I note that he’s arrogant and temperamental. He’ll be a fun one to watch implode.

IANAL, but I have seen others who seem to be lawyers say that a mere verbal order from a judge that is not followed up as a written ruling is not, in fact, binding.
