Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday rejected the terms of President Trump’s proposed 30-day cease-fire in Ukraine, demanding that the West stop arming Kyiv before the Kremlin would consider such an arrangement.
While he said Moscow was willing to “cease hostilities,” Putin said Moscow would only agree to the Trump deal if it were changed substantially.
“We agree with proposals to cease hostilities [in Ukraine], but this cessation must lead to a long-term peace and eliminate the root cause of the initial crisis,” he said, without defining what he felt was the “cause.”
“We also want guarantees that Ukraine will not mobilize, train soldiers, or receive weapons during the 30-day cease-fire,” the Russian president said, without indicating Russia would be willing to abide by the same conditions.

I agree....and already said it....restocking during a ceasefire is a no no...
Why should they cease fire - only to allow their opponent to rearm and reorganize?
This is just part of initial negotiations. Trump pushed a plan; Russia pushes back; Witkoff meets with Russians; stay tuned.
Makes sense.
F Russia, are they agreeing to any of those things during the ceasefire? Of course not.
“A little different take that other reports of a cease-fire.”
Based on the video timestamp, that statement was from yesterday. Today, Putin made a different statement, expressing support for a ceasefire, with certain issues that need discussion. It appears he is open to negotiations. We now have a peace table for all parties to engage in dialogue. This is a big step forward.
It’s so reasonable? Then apply the same to Russia.
Yeah, well...”duh” to the ceasefire crows.
Any idiot would demand such - i.e., stop arming ukes - and to not expect it from Putin is just stupid.
The process is 50% there now, at least. This is all positive.
It’s also a blunt statement that the reality is that the war is with the USA and EU vs Russia. And he is wanting us to quit pretending we are some well-meaning innocent arbiter.
The war will only end when Ukraine concedes the annexed territory and agrees, as its Constitution mandates, to be a country neutral toward Russia.
Russian Derangement Syndrome and globalist greed are the biggest obstacles to peace and our national security/
Sorry, peace through strength, not through appeasement, Neville.
Would you hold the Russians to the same standard?
Screw them marauding vodka swillers. Their way to wealth is stealing from other nations. No nation wants to be under the boot of these greedy morons. Just ask Poland, Estonia, Latvia and so on. Ukraine was a peaceful and civilized nation, until the barbarians from the East invaded.
Trump knows that what WILL bring Putin to his knees, without one GI getting killed, is OIL.
It takes TIME for Trump to flood the world market with OIL and drive the price down.
The bottom line is that the Brits, France and Poland have all stated they intend to send “peacekeepers”. The moment it goes into force, they will send in tens of thousands of soldiers, fighter planes for a no-fly zone etc.
There is no temporary ceasefire...from that moment on, Russia cannot achieve any of it’s goals, Ukraine will be a defacto NATO member with security guarantees, there will be no limit to how much Ukraine can rearm, no return of the hundreds of billions of Russian gold and currency we impounded, no lifting of sanctions etc.
There is simply nothing in it for the Russians to sign a temp ceasefire. They know it would be instantly permanent and achieve all the NATO goals and none of theirs.
And since WE are the ones desperate for a ceasefire, not them, we need to make it worth their while.
A lot of ‘conservatives’ are going to throw Trump under the bus and start truly bringing out their russia and putin love soon. This site will be fun to watch for sure.
Tough times for the Zeeper crew.
