WASHINGTON (TNND) — As the world marks over five years since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic, its effects continue to reverberate across the United States. A recent Pew Research Center survey reveals that only 20% of Americans now view the coronavirus as a major threat, a significant drop from 67% in 2020.
"For most folks, the public health threat is in the rear view mirror," Alec Tyson, Associate Director of Research at Pew Research Center noted.
However, the pandemic's impact remains profound, particularly among younger generations who may have missed out on school events and may have had a harder transition into the workforce.
The survey also found that three-quarters of Americans acknowledge the pandemic took a toll on their lives, though nearly everyone reports some level of recovery. The shift to remote work has become a new norm, with President Donald Trump's push for a full-time return to the office being a complete shock to the system for some.
"We’ve gotten used to a new way of doing rhythms in our life, now that’s getting disrupted," said John Davis, VP of Human Resources at Cedarville University.

One day at work I got up and looked around and counted 5 people at their desk with masks on.
Then I heard it was because their boss said if you don't fell well she has masks for you to wear and its a good idea.
I would have told her lets go to HR.
The reason is LOCKDOWN.
I really think COVID changed everything. People see some of it but over time, it will be realized that COVID made everyone think differently about everything.
someone who is sick themselves with anything and especially if they are coughing is exactly who SHOULD be wearing a mask!
You should have told her to go to hell.
My question is why did we not used masks prior to 2020 if they are so effective?
And a side benefit for Rat Party Headquarters was that it hugely helped their basic long term plan...to "fundamentally transform" the nation.
( 7 million deaths in the world / 8 billion in the world ) x 100 = 0.0875 %
Less than one tenth of one percent over the entire five years.
The "pandemic" was a media-driven marketing coup.
Exactly.
While I worried about what was happening to America, for me personally it was a great period.
People were occupied and stayed away, I got some extra money to buy some things like freezers, there was plenty of drama and people all concerned about stuff but I didn’t have to participate in any of it, it was a great time to study human behavior and especially of the people you could observe in your private life. Things got revealed about people.
To be clear, most of this isn’t the impact of the pandemic, this is impact from the government response to the pandemic. It wasn’t the virus that mandated masks, the closure of schools, social distancing, the declaration of “nonessential businesses”, mail-in voting and alteration of election laws, mandatory vaccines and firings and ostracisms for “vaccine hesitancy”, and of course the censorship of true items and the spreading of lies about “safe and effective”, etc. That’s all on government and its willing lackies.
To say nothing of who developed the virus, and with what funding.
I dont think they are effective at all for those who are healthy. A mask will not prevent a virus from passing through.
BUT if you are sick and for some unknown reason are not at home where you belong when sick, then sure wear a mask so that your water droplets from coughing don’t travel as far.
Simply a compliance test. Some rats are easier to control than other rats.
What still resonates with me is the zest with which our officials sought to suspend or rescind many of my personal liberties.
I won’t forget.
And self isolating.
I too still see fools wearing face diapers, but the wearing of acifidity bags, foul smelling bags of various herbs which were touted as protection against the 1918 Flu pandemic, persists even today.
“impact still resonates in America”
I’ll say it does. Every time I see a masked person (maybe 20-50 times a day) here in Santa Clara County, I get triggered, my inner rage boils up, and I want to scream at them “What the HELL is wrong with you? Haven’t you read a single research paper summary that says the masks are useless? Do you plan to spend the rest of your life behind a mask? Comer on out and enjoy fresh air and freedom!”
Then I calm down and think “It’s their choice. Stupid choice, yes, but they ARE Democrats after all.”
Just yesterday the barista at Starbucks, a guy maybe in his early 20s, prepared my coffee wearing a mask. Doesn’t he know that young people hardly ever got sick and hardly ever died?
Three big lessons from Covid:
—Illegal invaders were not stopped from entering the country. That proved that everything was a fraud and government and “health experts” could not be trusted.
—”Our body our choice” apparently did not apply to vaccines. That proved that everything was a fraud and government and “health experts” could not be trusted.
—Dissenting views were silenced on line and in person. That proved that everything was a fraud and government and “health experts” could not be trusted.
Gotcha
