The two NASA astronauts who have been stranded on the International Space Station (ISS) since June will be hitching a ride home on a SpaceX craft in just “a few weeks,” according to Elon Musk — as NASA prepares to launch their replacements on Wednesday night.
More than nine months after they lifted off for what was supposed to be a 8-day sojourn on the space station, castaways Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita Williams are getting close to returning to terra firma once again.
“Yes, we’re bringing them back in a few weeks,” the SpaceX CEO said when he was asked about the rescue mission during his interview with Larry Kudlow on Fox Business Monday night.
Musk has been working to retrieve the astronauts after they were left behind on the ISS due to malfunctions with their original ride home, Boeing’s Starliner capsule.
Musks claims his efforts to bring the astronauts back earlier were stonewalled by the Biden administration for “political reasons.”

If the launch goes as expected tonight, they should be back next week.
Prayers for success. Gotta be nerve wracking for the astronauts, but elon’s actual space rockets for passengers have had a very high success rate- pray this one is too.

Really, can you imagine? I guess that what they signed up for but still.
Yeah that is one way to look at it- helps mitigate the worry some perhaps. I kinda do the same whenever I needed an operation, go into it thinking “well if anything happens, it’s been a good life and I don’t regret it”
Once these two astronauts are returned to earth, (assuming that they ever will be, while alive) the rest of their lives may become primarily a period of recovery. If one or both of them became severely agoraphobic, and never wanted to leave their home for any reason, that would be perfectly understandable.
They will be besieged with calls from reporters, begging for interviews. Professional writers will declare themselves ‘now available’ to ghost write books in their names.
Elon and his companies will be doing their best, but no one is a magician, and this ‘stranded in space’ predicament has only happened before in Sci-Fi movies, never before in our shared reality.
Pray real hard that this is a success.

If crazy democrats can throw a Monkey Wench into this mission they will.
Know that if they can sabotage the mission in any way at all they will do it.
If they can screw Musk and make him look bad they will do it even if it causes the death of innocent people.
Or, as I like to call it, "reality".
